8 months, embarrasingly long, but I kind of got into a routine of handwashing and then plopping in the sterilizer to get them out of the way.

We don't use our dishwasher for bottle parts early on because we have hard water and use chemicals to make sure the machine runs properly.

I sterilized everything before using it for the first time. After that, everything got washed by hand or put in the dishwasher. I would sterilize the nipples if I was hand washing though.

I also only sterilized the bottles when new. I will sterilize nipples about once a month (they start to look a little cloudy).

Otherwise they go in the dishwasher. We have baskets that we put all the parts in (Dr. Browns).

@blushink: We have a Bosch that has a special protective basket for all the bottle parts. I just have to make sure to put the nipples in with the point part up and we're fine.

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh I completely agree!!! I'm not the type to over clean everything... but seeing she's so small, then ya, I might do it for a while. I've put it in the dishwasher before... but I just find that it doesn't clean the bottle nipples properly.

Maybe I need some sort of compartment for my dishwasher?
