DS was between 12 - 15 months when ours broke. We didn't bother getting a new one. I have always been able to sense when he is up.

LO is almost 3 years old and we still use the Motorola video monitor. It works because he doesn't yet get out of bed on his own and he knows we will go to him when he wakes (even though he has been out of his crib for 3 months now). He also knows he can call to us and we will hear him on the monitor.....so i am not sure at what point he will decide to come to us instead of calling us to him. I guess that's when we no longer need it? Does that just happen on its own at certain age?
