We were immediately swarmed by the doctor and her team of nurses taking his temperature and blood pressure. The doctor said she wanted to rule out meningitis because the fever appeared abruptly. I know there was a time when I erred on the side of caution with DS b/c he broke out in a weird rash and it was a Friday. Figured it was better to make it into the doctor &amp; it be nothing then it be something &amp; have to go to the ER over the weekend. With a storm coming where I know I wouldn't want to go out, I'd just go in. No harm in going just in case. This one is by far the longest. (Started on sunday afternoon and today is the 5th day)</p> <p>It was 102.5 on Sunday, I gave him tylernol it went down a bit. Monday it was still between 102-103... I gave him tylenol until we go in to see the doc to make sure it is not ear infection or anything funky. I did call them Monday morning though but they actually said I didn't have to come in because it could be shot-related (he just had his 1-year shots last Friday). Now it is down to 100.4 this morning when I took his temperature. I will go in tomorrow if the fever doesn't completely go away.</p> <p>Then 2 weeks ago when he did have an ear infection related fever, I measured him in the middle of the night it was 103+! I freaked out and called, and the nurse said give him tylenol, and I didn't have to take him to the ER as long as he is under 105. One time was when she had pneumonia and the other was when she had an ear infection + 5 teeth cutting. Made me feel so much better. </p> <p>This past week P ended up with a pretty high fever and was clearly not feeling well (got to 102.8 and 2 doses of Tylenol 2 hours apart to bring it down). It made me pretty nervous when it didn't want to come down. The only reason I didn't take her in is b/c I knew I was doing everything they would at the hospital (it was late already) and there she'd also get an IV and everything else. So I just made sure she nursed/snacked often and did what I could to bring it down. It finally broke and then returned to 101.8 about midmorning. She got cranky again so I dosed her and gave her a bath (she loved taking the bath even with the high temp) and then she was fine after that. Once it broke about 5 in the evening it didn't come back.</p> <p>We all kind of had a weird 24 hour virus that did that the week before so I guess that's what she had.</p> <p>Hope your lo starts to feel better soon! Fevers below 102 we don't even medicate unless it's clear that P or G is uncomfortable.
