We told her right away but she ended up spilling the beans to our friends. So I say hold off until you're ready to share the news with friends and family.

DD had just turned 3 when I got pregnant. We told her after NT scan. I had a loss prior and at that age she was excited and would have told everyone.

We told her as soon as we *saw* the heartbeat, at 7 weeks. She's only 2 though, and her efforts to blab the news to people were mostly met with confusion since people didn't know what she was talking about, or why she was enthusiastically pointing at my belly. If she were older and could communicate clearly with other people, I would wait until I was ready to tell the world.

I'd say you really really would not want to explain a miscarried little one, so after you know things are looking very good?
FWIW, I told my 17 month old the day we found out. Not surprisingly, he didn't give a crap. Or understand anything we said.

Thanks for all the replies ladies!
It's tough for me not to tell her because the three of us are a little team..Feels weird to keep it from her.

Oh well, I'll probably wait until NT scan time

We told our DD who was almost 3 at the time after we had our NIPT testing and 12 week scan taken care of. We had a 23 week and 10 week loss prior and didn't want to tell anyone until we were sure we had a healthy pregnancy. She was at an age where once we told her it would have been hard on her if we loss the baby.

We read this book together each month after she knew. It talks about how big the baby is and what is new with its development each month. She looked forward to learning about the baby growing in mommy and I look back on it as a very special time together.

We also talked a lot about when baby would come so she had a bit of a timeline. I was due on Halloween so we used that as our benchmark. When fall came and pumpkins started appearing she got really excited about her brother/sister coming soon. Too bad Halloween came and went and I had to be induced well into November :silly:

We told her the day after we found out this time. Mainly because she has seen a few people in her life get sick this year and I didn't want her to worry about me if I got morning sickness. I'm okay with it not being a secret this time, so her blabbing (which she did!) was fine.

After the NT scan and materniT21 results came back ok. I believe it was around 14 weeks. I had 2 previous losses at 10 and 12 weeks, so I really didn't want her to know if we lost a pregnancy. Also, I didn't want her to tell anyone inadvertently so it made sense to wait until we were ready to announce to everyone.

B) Not until we were ready for her to tell everyone
C) Not until we were ok with hearing 100times per day "When is the baby coming".

Like PP I was most concerned about my almost 4 year old telling people, so we waited until we were going public, around 12 weeks after NIPT testing. I also didn't want to have to explain an early loss to her as I was worried it would concern her in the future if I had another pregnancy.

We waited until we were ready to tell people because he has a big mouth! Also, I'd had consecutive losses so we wanted to be sure this one was going to stick. I think around the end of the first trimester. He was 2.5.

Technically I told her right before I told DH. We were all laying in bed together after I took my best (it was sitting on my nightstand). I peeked over at it, saw the positive result, and whispered to her to tell DH I had a baby in my belly.

She was 3ish ... and quickly forgot all about it. BUT, she's 3.5 now, and there's NO WAY I'd tell her if I didn't want everyone to know. We were keeping the sex a secret, but we recently went back home to visit family and she told EVERYONE (including strangers on the airplane) that she was having a baby sister soon.

We had had a loss at 12 weeks prior to the sticky baby who became DS. DD was not quite 2 at the time and didn't know and I was glad for that. So with DS we didn't tell until after I was out of the first tri (and past 12 weeks). She was just over 3 when we told her and she was sooo excited!

So I just found out I'm pregnant (yay!)

But wondering when to tell my LO, she's going to be 4 in September.
I was going to tell her right away but I've had an early loss before. I wonder has anyone else told their kids right away?
