Tiny tiny rural church 90% run by the most adorable little old retired ladies. Always a TON of food and "too many cooks in the kitchen" in the best possible way. But I do think that with a comprehensive financial plan you can get a good idea of when you are in a position where you are very unlikely to outlive your assets. I'm passionate about what I do--church ministries--and it's the type of thing that even if I wasn't doing paid ministry, I know I would be one of those older ladies who was still super-involved and on lots and lots of committees, so might as well stay on and get paid, especially if I transitioned back to a part-time ministry position like I'm in now (I plan to go full-time once I graduate with my masters). My dad is the type who has always been working towards retirement--he's 51 and just went to half-time and loves it so much more than full-time that he might stay at that for the time being. My mom is the type who loves her job and never would want to retire.
