DD had coxsackie (HFM) in her throat, she didn't eat for at least 2-3 days too... Dr said as long as she was drinking, it's fine and she totally made up for it after she got better.

I typically only worry about dehydration and try to keep the ped updated. If she's peeing and taking in fluids I usually don't worry.

I had a sister who would end up in the hospital a lot because she'd get too dehydrated. We'd give her anything she wanted really, soda, popcicles, ice cream, Gatoraid, anything to make sure she's hydrated.

My father used to make this Hawaiian frozen treat called goodie goodie that's basically cherry soda and sweetened condensed milk. She'd always eat some of that.

DS was just in the hospital for a week due to RSV and pneumonia and didn't eat anything for about 6-7 days total. The doctors and nurses were not concerned about food at all, just liquids once his IV was out. And any liquid was encouraged: water, juice, milk, smoothie, etc. Sips at all times. His eating came back slowly once he felt better and a week after being discharged, he is getting his normal appetite back (3 weeks after starting being sick)

My doctor told me not eating or hardly eating for up to 5 days is okay/normal if they are drinking and that eating can be wonky for up to 10 days.

My toddler isn't and has never been a big eater. When she gets sick she eats way less so basically nothing. She had the stomach flu in decembet and didn't eat for a week. The most was 1/4 of a buttered bagel, seriously! She also stopped drinking so that was really worrying and I took her to the er and doctor. I wouldn't worry as long as they are drinking lots of fluids (and any kinds of fluids are fine), the doctors say that is the most important thing.

You can do herbal teas if they like them, warm juice, warm broths.

DS quit eating around noon on Saturday, threw up 3 times Saturday night from 7 pm to 1 am, ate some fruit on Sunday noon and a little more Sunday night, no breakfast Monday, more fruit for lunch, and finally ate a full supper Monday night.
I definitely worried about it, but the dr. said its more important they get liquids and aren't dehydrated. I started giving Pedialyte in a medicine dropper (he wouldn't drink it as 'juice' but is the weird kid that likes medicine). It seemed to help.

My 5yo had an awful stomach bug two summers ago where she threw up almost everything she was able to eat for almost 10 days (and had the runs too). she was pretty lethargic but there was nothing to do but wait it out. I had always thought those bugs were quick but the nurse told me it's not uncommon to last up to 2 weeks (!).

As long as water is staying down I think they'll eat when they're ready. but never hurts to call your nurse if you want a second opinion!

My 4 year old has a stomach bug, she hasn't vomited since yesterday morning but is going on 36 hours of not eating. She is drinking water, so that's good.

At what point do you worry about your LO not eating? How long has your LO gone without eating when sick?
