@catomd00: They arrive at 8:45 to get ready for class starting at 9am. It's a preschool schedule, 9-3. There is before / after care with different teachers.

I guess if my daughter has only been there like 10 minutes and the teachers start swapping out with floaters to take breaks, I can see how that might make it harder for her to settle in. She has separation anxiety and I can hear her crying when I leave the building most days, although I know eventually she does play and have fun because she is usually busy & happy when I get her.

I don't know what time your teachers arrive but ours are there at 6:30 (daycare opens at 7) so a break at 9:30 wouldn't phase me. You can ask if you want but as long as they have appropriate coverage I'm not sure there's anything that needs to be changed.

@daniellemybelle: In the rooms with kids older than 12 months (so on 1 nap) the teachers eat their lunch with the kids at 12pm - but then the lead teacher takes her break from 1-2 and the assistant takes her break from 2-3 (nap is 1-3).

@mediagirl: That makes sense... I kind of thought that's what they did. Maybe the state doesn't want them to lump all the required breaks in together so they are doing this now? I want to ask...

@regberadaisy: So they don't take 15 min breaks in addition to lunch?

Is it totally weird of me to ask about it when I pick up?

They take lunch breaks for an hour but that's the only scheduled break.

@Mamaof2: I know they take turns taking lunch at the same time the kids eat, because I have gotten pictures of LO at lunch from a floater. I kind of wish they waited for nap, but the babies are not all on the same schedule so I imagine that's hard.

I think 2 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch for an 8 hour shift are required legally.

@autumnlove: Yeah, there was a floater in there to cover both of their breaks. I was just a bit surprised at the timing!

Their break time is during their lunch when the kids are napping.

I have no idea of the schedule but they always have floaters during breaks.

Not sure _ I guess I assumed never? Unless they need to use the bathroom?

They take lunch during nap time

I just dropped LO off later than usual - 9:25. The day starts at 9 unless you do before care.

I was surprised that one of her teachers was coming back from a break and there was a helper in the class. Then when the one teacher got in the room, the other went right onto break.

I feel like this is a weird time to do breaks! The babies are just settling in for the day. I know my LO still cries at drop off a lot... I hate to think that the second she settles down, the teacher paying attention to her leaves!

Maybe it was something different about today though. I have dropped off late before & both the teachers were always in the room.
