My guy was a huge spitter too!! I hated it, but he was a happy spitter, thank goodness...

For us it decreased around 6 months when we started solids, then decreased more when we switched from purees to table food around 10 months. It was very gradual and I honestly didn't notice it until I was doing a little organizing and realized I haven't grabbed any or washed burp cloths in awhile.

10-11 months is when it stopped for my daughter. She was on reflux meds for the first few months, and then a happy spitter after that, but it was enough that we didn't leave the house without bibs until close to her 1st birthday. Solids definitely help, but most of it is just their systems maturing. I've totally been there and I totally get it. Hang in there!

LO1 had reflux but we stopped meds around 6/7 months. She continued to spit up multiple times a day till 10/10.5 months. LO2 has reflux as well at 4 months, spits up so much daily too. I do a lot of laundry just of bibs and burp cloths. And day care puts their bibs on her during the day.

After a year for us as a few others have said. Maybe 14-15 months, although I would say around 12 months we saw some improvement. But my DS was NOT a happy spitter - had really bad reflux. And I think the improvement may have been related less to age, and more to the fact we finally got him on a large enough dose of Nexium. Hard to say.

Now at 20 months he is still on Nexium and I would say has a small spit up every 1-2 weeks even now.

Hang in there... I know it seems like forever!

DD was a happy spitter, no reflux, but she spit up many many times per day every day. It finally started to gradually slow down around 6-7 months. She just turned 1 and still spits up 1-2 times/week, but that is much more manageable!

Insane volumes of spit up over here too. Multiple outfits a day for him and for me. Bibs - probably went through 7-10 a day. Literally had to buy new rugs when he was done spitting once and for all.
It stopped around 9 months, if I recall correctly.
Hang in there, it was so frustrating at the time but looking back I barely remember it!

@Goldengirl: yup. But just try to remember it's just a laundry problem and not a health problem for your lo. That helped me. Also you could get dh to do laundry or even outsource it completely! Our nanny did dd's laundry and that was awesome.

@Mrs. Pajamas: We go through SO many bibs and so much laundry... that's probably the worst part of it. Sometimes (like now) I don't even put on a clean shirt because I'm just like, meh... I've become accustomed to smelling like baby barf.

@Goldengirl: I had the same Timeline as @Mrs. Champagne. Probably not what you want to hear but now it seems like a distant memory and no big deal. Dd is 2.5 yo and didn't have reflux but man I got so sick of bibs and getting barfed on. We used cloth diapers as spit up rags and now dd is really good about cleaning her hands and face after eating so maybe that's a direct result? Totally understand the frustration!

@Goldengirl: mine didn't have reflux and I don't think solids had any impact either because there was not much consumed. I think it was just a matter of time and physical development.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.drgreene.com/questions-and-answers/baby-outgrow-gastroesophageal-reflux

Although, according to this solids do help! Good hope it's over for both of you soon. Living in fear of one or both of you being soaked at every feeding is kind of not enjoyable! :)

LO has been a huuuuuge spitter/barfer since day 1. He has reflux which definitely contributes to it but he's on medication so I'd say he's a happy spitter. He mostly doesn't even realize when it's happened. It seemed like it was improving for awhile, but the past month or so has been worse than ever. His clothes are always ruined and it gets everywhere... doesn't matter what I do, when/how I feed, just keeps happening.

Did anyone else have a huge spitter and if so when did it end (if ever)?! LO is almost 6 months.
