My dh normally has a strong opinion about the look of the yard (he used to be a landscaper), big purchases and things he really wants to do. He does a lot of stuff I want to do and doesn't normally ask for much. When he wants to see a UFC fight though (ugh) I do offer to go with him....just so he gets to see the thing he really likes.

Oh and, you know, things like baby names. :)

This is a hard question---I truly have no answer. We decide everything together...we both heavily research things, we control the budget together... there isn't an uneven division at all. I trust that if I was ill or incapacitated, he would make whatever decision was best for me, as I would for him--that's the only time one of us would just decide something major without input from the other.

@red - Ah good point! You should create an anonymous poll in a new thread!

Most things, we generally decide together. He makes most of the decisions regarding big purchases. A-He pays the bills so he has a better handle on how much we can afford to pay for something and B-He researches every little detail for months to make sure we are getting the best deal/product for our money.

I can't think of any examples. Either I decide or we decide something jointly but I can't think of something that only he decides on.

@MrBee, I think your survey might be a bit skewed since most of those who are active commenters are probably alphas/outspoken by default. And those who aren't alphas probably thought twice about admitting so in the comments.

You should create an anonymous poll if you really want to see how many alphas you have on this site :)

(Oooh, I'm quoted! Okay, dork moment over.)
Umm, usually if it's something that he feels REALLY strongly about, but doesn't really make a difference to me. As in, on the importance scale of 1 to 10, he's closer to 10 about it, and I'm closer to 1. Or, if it's something he's an expert on, and I'm not.

When it comes to anything exterior about the house, DH has and always will have the final say. He knows more and I trust his judgment/taste.

When it comes to anything about finance, insurance, legal, all the serious stuff. DH has and always will have the final say (with my input and agreement of course). He knows more and I trust his finance background and bill handling a heck of a lot more than my financial skills.

It turns out that most Hellobees are alphas! :-)

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/who-is-the-alpha-in-your-relationship

Some people mentioned that they let their SO's have the last word in a few cases:

* "Ha. Me, by far. I have had to learn to let him do things when he really wants to!! :)"
* "For the most part, I'm the alpha. Every now and then, though, he'll take the lead, so to speak. I'd say it's 80/20."
* "My husband is pretty lax and lets me make a lot of decisions (I am sort of bossy =X ) but in situations where he has a certain opinion, he will fight me tooth and nail on it! I guess it's 70/30?"

I got a bit curious... what are the situations where your SO will have an opinion or feel strongly about a decision?
