Ahh, thanks all! It really is helpful to read all of this. Yesterday I tried feeding him 45 mins before his last bottle and it went alright! Eating puts him in a good mood so it was nice to have a bright spot during the always awesome witching hours. :silly:
I'm trying to remember that it's ok not to be super scheduled about this -- trying to have fun with food and learning different ways to eat.

We offer it 2-3 times a day at around breakfast, lunch, and dinner. DS takes a bottle in order to sleep so usually we feed purees after he wakes up. Dinner time he eats a lot, so he gets at bottle at 5pm, puree at 6:30, and then bottle and bed at 8-8:30.

We try to do a mid morning brunch (11-11:30am) and then a dinner time meal (any time between 5-8pm). We're definitely not super scheduled with our solids meals yet (8 months).

We started with breakfast and added lunch and dinner as time went along. We always offered BM/formula first, then would offer solids. When we started solids, my son went down from about 28-30oz of milk a day to 22-24oz, which my doctor told me was totally normal, so dropping a nursing session or just not nursing as much would be fine. For us, by that age, DS was on 4 milk feedings a day. At 730am, 1130am, 330pm, and 730pm. So we'd do breakfast and lunch right after the first 2 feedings. "Dinner" was earlier around 4pm after his 3rd milk feeding, he'd sit with us and eat puffs or just play with a sippy in his high chair at 6pm when DH and I had our dinner, and then he'd have his bedtime bottle at 730pm.

I added solids earlier in the day first because it changes their bowel movement patterns and it takes a while to get that sorted out (i.e. them getting the hang of not pooping during naps). So I added dinner last because I didn't want to deal with night poops for as long as possible. Also because if something causes indigestion or gas, I'd rather deal with it during the day than at night.

My daughter is 7 months too (8 months next week) and she's been on three solid meals for the last few weeks. She's at daycare, but I just told the provider to feed her around breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So her schedule looks somewhat like this:
6:30 - Wake up. Nurse.
8:00 - Breakfast solid followed by a bottle of milk (3.5 oz).
8:30 - 10 - Nap
11:30 - Lunch solid followed by a bottle of milk.
1 - 3:00 Nap
3:00 - Bottle of milk
5:00 - Bottle of milk and dinner solid.

ETA: As another posted commented about waiting between solid and milk, I have noticed that daycare does generally give the bottle of milk about 30 min after the solid food. I try to follow the same general schedule on the weekends.

We had a similar schedule at that age, but fed him solids at noon and 5:30. I also nursed before naps, in addition to upon waking. At LO's 9 month appt, his doc said that we could cut back to 3 nursing sessions a day now (if we want). She also said we could add in a third meal and snacks (we are currently doing 1-2 snacks). Just a FYI for planning ahead purposes! Also, now I usually give him a morning meal instead of lunch, which is only a snack.

There is so much nutrition still to offer by BM, you're doing great! It's alright to slowly increase the amount of solids. I'd use the guideline of waiting 30-60 mins between solid/liquid feeds to ensure that your LO is not to full to accept what you're offering.

I think after both naps. Then add dinner time later.

T is 10 mo and she gets solids in the AM after nursing, after nap 2 and nursing, around 5 pm - two hours before bed.

Our little guy is 7 months old and we've been giving him homemade purees once a day around lunchtime since the 6 month mark or so. Things are going well but I'd like to introduce another "meal" of purees during the latter half of the day and am running into trouble as to when to do so!

I'm still nursing him and know that it's too soon to be replacing a nursing session with solids ... but finding the timing has been tricky. I just feel like I'm already kind of jamming him full of BM and now I'm trying to pack that time with even more to eat! This feels like something so simple and I'm kind of embarrassed to even be struggling with this!

Here's a breakdown of how things would go on a perfectly scheduled day ... hahaha. :silly:

7am: wakeup and nursing session #1
9am: (please) nap!
10:30am: wakeup and nursing session #2
12:15pm: puree/solids [this is the feed that is already happening]
1:30pm: (seriouslyplease) nap!
3:30pm: wakeup and nursing session #3
5:30pm: nursing session #4
7:30pm: nursing session #5 then bedtime

If anyone out there has worked around a similar schedule and has suggestions ... halp! : ) Or I'd be curious to just hear how others approach introducing more meals.
Thank you!!!
