I tend to berate myself often. I can't realistically expect to be perfect. But I still try. And I feel guilty when I do something wrong. This week I noticed that her nails were really long but I decided to wait until the morning to trim them, call it laziness. Well, she cut herself along her nose. Nothing significant, she didn't cry. But I feel like it looks like I abuse my child.

Um, I have a good example for this. My daughter had a pimple looking thing on her shoulder at about 7.5 months old. I was trying to loosen up my parenting style a bit by then so I did not rush over to the peds office. I decided to wait until her next wellness check a few weeks later to bring it up. Well, turns out she had a skin disease! It was non-life threatening and all but I felt really bad for not getting it checked out right away but hindsight is 20/20 as they say. It didn't bother her at all but we did have to deal with it for next 8 months and it was a nightmare. Perhaps it would not have spread if I took her right away but who knows. Now I freak out at anything weird on her skin and she gets rashes a lot so it is quite stressful!

Don't be too hard on yourself! God knew parents were going to make mistakes! That's why He made babies so resilient and forgetful :)

i berated myself the most when i was sleep training. i missed charlie's window of not being overtired a couple of times and i berated myself. i felt so guilty whenever he cried, it physically pained me.

i was really tough on myself that first year and berated myself for everything, but i think i've learned to let a lot go otherwise i'd never survive parenting.

it'll get easier! :-)

I've done this before too! One trick Bee taught me is to download a white noise app on my iPhone, turn it all the way up, and then put it right outside the door where our LO is trying to sleep! If you get a lot of phone calls, you have to turn off your ringer though.

I mostly berate myself when I think I might have accidentally killed or mained the LO. One time I cooked some soup in a pot, but didn't turn the handle away from the front of the stove (until Mrs. Bee pointed it out). If Charlie had somehow grabbed the pot and pulled, hot soup would've spilled all over him. I felt awful about that.

I put down LO for her first nap today and she has been crying on and off (medium crying/whimpering/pouting) for almost an hour and I realized that I had forgotten to turn on her sound machine! I've been yelling at myself this whole time...I haven't gone back into her room to turn it on because I don't want to rile her up as she's just whimpering and trying to self-soothe. But I'm listening to her cry and thinking, "This is all my fault!"

Grrrrrr.

Any stories you want to share?
