@Corduroy: this could be my husband! I went to pick up J from preschool and his teacher mentioned that 'Dad might want to pack J more lunch tomorrow, all he had today was a piece of cake'. I laughed and told her that he must've had lunch earlier with dad. (He goes to preschool a few days a week from 1pm-5pm, so it's not unusual for him to not eat much there.)
NOPE.
Husband gave him cake. For lunch. At school.
I used to pack all the lunches for him but there would be days where they would have a big lunch together and everything I made would come back home mangled and few bites here and there.
I was furious.

Glad your LO is feeling better!!

That almost makes me laugh - he didn't want to waste it. Um, you know that it's FOR the baby, right? It's purpose is to be drunk by the baby, so when you give it to the baby to drink that's not wasting it!

I'm sorry, though, I sympathize - my husband is like that a bit. He just doesn't think of things. "Did you change his diaper?" "Uh, no, do you think I should have?"

@junebugsmama: I can relate to those bottle struggles. We went through that with DD and to a much lesser extent with DS. I don't miss those days. So stressful for everyone involved.

@Corduroy: we kept having conversations like this (less bottles though in the fridge!) when I would come home and several of the bottles would be untouched. I would prepare several small bottles with like an ounce each because we had a bottle hating baby who never took to it. My dh would keep trying with the same bottle even though I told him I didn't want the milk to sit out. I also didn't want to waste a ton of milk but everyday I would get home from work and my stomach would just sink looking in the fridge. I know it's not the same thing at all but it just reminds me of this conversations where dh would get mad at me for accusing him of not trying hard enough and I would try to give him credit for trying patiently while being like "stop starving my baby!!!!!"

@Pancakes: Thanks! Today was so much better.

@simplyfelicity: I think wasting milk was an excuse he came up with when I asked him WTF? Normally if I'm gone 2 hours running an errand I'll ask DH not to give a bottle but I would never say that for such a long time.

@junebugsmama: I was concerned DS wouldn't take bottles after having so much mama time but I just think DH forgot about them entirely.

@PawPrints: He did give DS purees. I even got a text around 4pm saying DS ate a lot. I just assumed DH was also giving bottles.

I'm a little confused, why does your DH think milk is wasted if given to the baby? I would be extremely upset for my LO's sake.

...and they were all there when I got back. 10am-6pm and DH didn't think to give the 7 month old a bottle. WTF. DS has RSV and was dehydrated with no only two wet diapers on Monday (hence the surplus of milk in the fridge). I finally went back to work after missing 3 days.

When I questioned DH about it he said something like "well, your milk is so precious I didn't want waste it." What good is it doing the refrigerator?? Give it to the sick baby. This isn't even LO1. I thought we were past needing super detailed instructions for Dad. To give him some credit DH did give solids. But really, there was soo much milk in the fridge and he didn't even as about it.
