Labor sure messes with your mind doesn't it? I was sent home after a long period of regular, hard contractions because I wasn't dilated. It WAS the real thing my body just had it's own way of doing things. When I went in (at 5-1-2), I was barely 3cm dilated (same I'd been at my last appt several days before) and my contractions stopped almost the minute they hooked me up. The OB on call said it's not uncommon...he joked that the baby gets stage fright. They gave me the choice to stay and be monitored for a few hours or go home and try to rest, but he was pretty sure that it wasn't the day.</p> <p>So we went home, after some tears of frustration, and even before I got out of the hospital (literally leaning up against the wall in the main lobby) my contractions were back and ramped up to an 8 or 9. Ironically, I was convinced I wasn't in labor, because if I was, I wouldn't have been sent home! I stayed at home for another 2 or 3 hours before I told D we needed to go back (I was 5cm when we got back).</p> <p>Anyway, long story short, it sucks to be sent home and I totally empathize.
