@Bao: how are you this morning? I've had some pain/cramping the last few days, and I'm pretty sure that it's coming from me overdoing it. But I've almost called a few times, only to have it go away when I laid down. Just be careful!

My doctor told me that in the second trimester "mild cramps are normal. moderate cramps are somewhat normal. Call me if you have severe cramping or any bleeding."

So personally unless I considered the cramps severe, or unless they were strongly moderate and had been going on for a couple days… I would probably not call. But that is just me.

I would call too. Your hospital should have a nurse hotline even if you can't get ahold of your doctor.

With my second, BH's came as early as 24 weeks, were painful and happened often, so usually my doctor told me to drink water and lay down (not easy with a toddler). He said the painful BH contractions didn't mean anything but it was a sign that I was over exerting myself.

@Mrs Green Grass: if I go into ER they automatically admit me (happened last time for a possible bladder infection) and it's 1k. If it's nothing I can't afford that, we don't even have that in savings. If it's still like this tomorrow I will call me OB :)

I had lower back pain and period-like cramping at 21 weeks. They made me go in and it definitely turned out to be nothing. They told me to just take it easy for the next day and it would probably go away and it did.

ETA: I'd still call them for peace of mind.

I'm 30 weeks, and I had cramping so bad over the weekend--low abdominal, on the sides, like period cramps--that they had me in L&D for 24 hours. I had lower back pain as well which is what worried them. I think if I would have just had the cramps and no other symptoms and they weren't so concerned about pre-term labor, they wouldn't have been as worried. They didn't find anything wrong and I've continued to have the cramps, so they gave me pain meds and chalked it up to expanding uterus. I hope you do find something to help with the pain because they're no fun--maybe a heating pad/warm rice sock? I know those feel good on my back so maybe they would feel good on your lower abdomen below your bump too. If the cramps continue and get worse, I'm sure it's no big deal to call your OB, but if they don't get any worse, chances are it's just growing/ligaments like mine is. Hugs, and I hope they get better!

I am 23 weeks and have had lots of cramping today. Mostly low down in the middle, like AF cramps with some on the sides. I hate to call my doctor for every little thing, and everytime I have called they make me go in, and that's just not an option right now. So I thought I'd ask you guys if there is a way to tell when cramping is/isn't normal. Baby is still moving normally and I've had plenty of fluids today. Any way to ease the pain?
