I think the first 6 weeks was really, really rough. I thought I was losing my mind from the sleep deprivation.

@Mrs. Superhero: I agree. Waking every 2 hours (with only 45 min in between) isn't so bad for a week or two. But 6 weeks of it is miserable! I was a total zombie for the first 2 months.

The longer it goes, the worse it gets. I had a lot of tears in the second month because she still slept so rough!

The first month was the worst for us. He never slept more than 2-3 hours and oftentimes wouldn't go back to sleep after feedings. Right around the 1 month mark, he started sleeping in 3 hour stretches and went to sleep after feedings. His sleeping gradually improved until 11.5 weeks when he was sleeping 6 hours. But then he started his 3 month growth spurt and for the past 5 days has been getting up every 3 hours again. Ugh.

At the very beginning was the worst for me but this 4 month wakeful or whaever the heck it is really sucks too. He might have been up every 3-4 hours the first month but at least it was somewhat consistent- and I also wasn't working. My son is 4.5 months now and while there are some good nights, there are random bad ones and every night is different.

I think the worst for me with DD was when she was 9 months. She would wake up for hours in the middle of the night and not go back to sleep. I much prefer waking every few hours, if they immediately go back to sleep after eating.

DS is only 4.5 months right now, but his worst so far was like 2-8 weeks. At 8/10 weeks his sleep suddenly improved drastically, so that was really nice!

For the first 6 weeks LO would wake every 3 hours to eat.
At exactly 6 weeks old she started sleeping longer 5-6 hour stretches!

I agree, it got really bad after the second week. The first week was hard but colic doesn't start until week 3. During week 2, we thought we were so lucky to have a decent sleeper only to find out that hell was waiting for us around the corner!

But you could be really lucky and have a good sleeper. If you don't, just remember things do eventually get better. :)

The first month was alll bad. Then it slowly got better. Now at 3.5 months I'm convinced she's going through sleep regression. She's back to waking up every 2-3 hours again. It's ROUGH.

For me my baby got worse after the 1st week. The first few days home was hard but then she suddenly got even worse at night and wouldn't lie in her crib at all. From week 2 to week 4 her sleep was the worst.

I agree with @Mrs. Jacks, although I might extend it to the first couple weeks! Then our LO settled into more of a routine. Even though I still didn't sleep much until she was closer to a couple months old,, at least I knew what to expect. It was the not knowing if she'd sleep for 10 minutes or 4 hours that just drained me!

I thought the first 2-3 days were always the worst. Then you start figuring out your little one and how to work around their schedule and get them more acclimated to day/ night

I have a week old baby and was wondering when their sleep is at it's worst? (aka when do they wake up the most throughout the night?) I realize it's different with every baby and depending on what they are going through (teething etc.) but I was just wondering if his sleep habits now as a newborn are the worst for me or if it's still yet to come! He's been a pretty good sleeper so far and I would be estatic if this is the worst of it! Thank in advance!!
