I was on my way to the gym and didn't grab my purse/wallet so not only did I get caught speeding 9 mph over, but I didn't have my license AND our registration card was out of date (I forgot to put the new one in the glovebox). I was going 45 in a 25. I didn't get a ticket because I was a hot mess from work. This little boy cut his head way open and had to go to the hospital. A police officer pulled in behind me (I assume to get lunch). Before I knew it, he put his lights on WHILE we were in the drive through line and wrote me a ticket for expired tags . . . I probably don't even need to mention that the parking lot and restaurant were *packed*. It was literally the first of the month (June), and DH's tags were good through May. DH had the new stickers in his office and had forgotten to apply them. : / I was oblivious because it was not my regular car. They weren't even in the crosswalk! I was so mad because I had never gotten a ticket, but the cop was rude. I went to the police station to ask about it and they agreed he was a jerk, but I still had to pay/take traffic school. The cop seriously turned around to follow me to pull me over! It was a speed trap, and the officer said I was going 80... speed limit is 55. I'm pretty sure it registered at 80 because I was going down a hill. The officer was nice and only recorded it as 9 miles over speed limit. So when they finally let us through, I jet out of there like a bat out of hell and was going 80 on the one lane off to the side that was rerouted. The cop was on the main highway trailing right behind me and pulled me over when the lane rejoined the main road. I could have been nailed bad for 80 in a posted 55 work zone and doubled fines, but he let me off with a warning. I had sympathy flowers in the passenger seat but I was in such a funk I didn't even say anything to the cop. He was just pulling everyone over. He even told me to contest the ticket and it'd get thrown out, but I forgot to do that in time so now I have my first moving violation in over 10 years! DH was like, 'why didn't you play the dead nana card?!' I just couldn't say anything. I sat in my car and cried for a while after.
