I will keep all this in mind if we have another one to potty train some day :).</p> <p>Update: she peed herself once on Friday and once today. Pooped herself once yesterday. Everything else has been in the potty, including overnight and one nap (and we had house showings both days). We even went out of the house today, to the mall and a restaurant, and took the potty with us in the car with zero issues (we like to push the envelope, apparently lol). We made her pee in the potty before we exited the car at each destination. I have three older kids that I potty trained and I use to own a daycare and I always just went to panties and bypassed the pull ups. A little messy at first but they all were potty trained quickly. She hardly even naps but still almost always pees in the pull-up during that hour and a half of quiet time. So based on my experience I bet your LO will have way fewer accidents once she's in underwear instead of the pull-up! As a preschool teacher I see them as a necessary evil for children who take a long approach to potty training instead of doing the three day method over a long weekend at home. We put her straight in undies. No pull ups, just diaper for nap and bedtime for now. I think kids have a hard time learning when they are in something that is "acceptable" to poop in. We did a day of going naked at home and then a day of going commando, but after that, it was undies all the way! And yes, there WERE accidents, but after the first couple weeks, he pretty much had the hang of it. I made sure daycare had at least 7 pairs of spare undies every day for those first few weeks!</p> <p>ETA: We still do pull-ups at night (and we did pull-ups at nap for ~6 months after potty training). It was a long weekend, so she had three days at home in panties/no undies and then that Tuesday she went in panties. She's only pooped herself once, and that was on day three. She'll likely train a lot faster without them. Yes there will be some accidents and some undies that get tossed. She's been in daycare since she was 1, and they've been working with her on potty training for quite a while now. She's now in pullups, and wakes 95% of the time dry in the morning. I can usually get her to pee in the potty (pretty good success rate for not going in her pullup), but poop is a whole other story. She's only pooped in the potty a handful of times. Daycare is pushing me to start sending her in (and with) panties, but I've confirmed with them that she usually poops in her pullups there as well.</p> <p>I kind of feel that until she's pooping more consistently in the potty, sending her in panties is just a recipe of a big, nasty disaster, and a lot of clothes are going to get ruined in the process. But they have done this a lot more than I have, and maybe switching to panties and knowing that pullups are no longer an option is the push she needs?</p> <p>If you've potty trained, at what point did you switch to panties? I haven't tried the three day method because we're trying to sell our house, and I can't commit to being able to stay in my house for three days straight and not have a showing scheduled.</p> <p>Thanks! </p>
