I do the old school sweat it out thing. I also use sliced onions in a pair of socks to help draw out the fever overnight. It's worked wonders for both of my boys who are 4.5 and 1.5. Out of all of the times I've tried it I've only had to do it a second night once. Hope your LO feels better soon!

It depends...if the fever is the result of an ear infection, the only thing that helps is antibiotics.

If it is a fever as a result of something else, then I offer a lot of fluids and try to keep him relaxed, which usually means cuddles.

@wheres_c: Thank you! It's so ridiculously cold here (-16 high today) that it's a balance trying to keep her the right temperature. Just debating whether to take her to the doctors but she gets hysterical there.... Ahhh I hate fevers!

B got his first fever in the past few days...I medicated, turned down the heat, put on a fan, put a wet washcloth on his head and put him in light cotton pjs next to me.

Sometimes a tepid bath can bring the tempature down quickly, so maybe give her one while waiting for the medicine to kick in? My mom is of the old school "let them sweat it out" camp and I asked my ped but she said to keep them cool to let the heat out so I probably wouldn't use the sleep sack. Hope she feels better soon!

What do you do to make them more comfortable (apart from medication)? It's the first time A has had a high fever and she's so miserable, bless her. She's had as much medicine as she can have for now and is in my bed. Is a sleep sack too much for her if she's so hot?
