DS has diarrhea last week, and the nurse at the ped's office told us clear liquids (but no apple juice), no milk, and keep things bland. We fed him a lot of saltines, which luckily he loves. We also did dry cheerios and bananas. She also suggested some full fat greek yogurt with mashed banana in it - she said Fage and Stonyfields have ones that have the good bacteria in them. She also said for fluids to give pedialyte or watered down gatorade. I gave gatorade because we can buy it in smaller bottles. It seems like we have a ton of waste when I get the giant pedialyte bottles.

I had diarrhea last week and I assumed BRAT was the way to go but baby411 (my bible) said they need the fiber and fats in their normal diet to bulk up the stool and basically just to give them what you normally would.

I've also read that brat is no longer recommended, but we thankfully haven't had to deal with this. Hope he feels better soon!

Not really. We just try to give more more bland foods. And nothing acidic b/c that kills it for us and starts a rash madness!

R is on day 4 of diarrhea - went from 5 a day to 4, yesterday 3. He's had one so far today. At first I was going to do BRAT, but I've heard and read conflicting information about the effectiveness / propriety of it. So, instead we've been doing a starchy diet and no fruit. But it's persisting so I'm wondering if BRAT is the answer.

What do you do when LO has diarrhea?
