@rahlyrah: Same for my little sister!! So, the only post-cord belly button I've seen is one like that.

DS's was groooooss there for about a week. @ladybee: My baby's cord stub took 3 weeks to fall off! There's a huge range.

DS's bled just a bit for a few days and it took a little while for everything to clear out. I also took a q-tip after a bath to clean it out and remove any loose dead blood in there. After a few weeks, it looked like a normal belly button.

It definitely had some black gunk in there for a while. It took a few days for it to all wiggle loose and come out!

It kinda looked like an outie. Apparently it retracts after the cord falls off. Now (7.5 weeks), it looks like a normal cute belly button.

@mediagirl: hahaha, I wanted to vomit. The smell was soooo bad.

R's fell off at 8 days old and her belly button was half innie half outie for a while. It's finally an innie as of a few weeks ago. She'll be 17 weeks old tomorrow.

LO's also came out in pieces. He ended up having an umbilical granuloma and needed silver nitrate to clear it up.

There was black stuff in there still. I put some alcohol on a q-tip and was able to wiggle it out. And then I vomited over the grossness of it all.

@hilsy85: same. It also seemed to fall off in two pieces it fell off early (first week) so I think that's why it oozed so long. Ped had to put silver nitrate on it to help it close.

Her belly button looks perfectly normal now.

His had some blackish gunk and bled a little bit. I didn't do anything to it, and the pedi cleaned it out with an alcohol swab at our next visit.

...what did it look like? I figured it would look like a belly button. DD's just fell off (6 days old) and it looks so weird. Still has what looks like more cord in there kind of? Calling the ped tmrw but thought I'd ask here too.
