@meganmp: I said it was irrational when I posted :) personally I'm just tired of everyone saying it. I'm glad she resembles DH, just want a tiny bit of recognition that she has one of my features.

All of my friends babies look just like their daddies! I hope all our babies look like my SO. But unfortunately that's not going to happen. I wonder if my hormonal PP self will be annoyedwhen people say how much our babies look like the donor. #knowndonorproblems

Our dirty little secret is that Wagon Sr. and I looked really alike as babies, so we both know that both of our kids resemble both of us because... well... we looked similar as babies. So it doesn't really bother me that much. But we get it all the time. Wagon Jr. is a mini WS and LMW is a mini me. I've never minded it. Kind of a relief since we named my son after my husband so it's nice that they look alike. And I got "mine" with my daughter so it evens out.

Before I had my daughter, there was once a call for baby pictures for a baby shower game and I sent mine to the hostess... she emailed back, SHOCKED, saying she thought all along that WJ looked just like WS, but turns out he is actually MY clone! I just laughed, because I knew. WJ looked just like me when I was a baby!

DS looks so much like DH's dad, its freaky. I am actually glad that he does, because I had silly, irrational thoughts when I was pregnant that there was a mix up at the lab and I was going to come home with a baby of a different race than DH and I. :) at first, I was (not seriously) convinced that there had been a mix up at the lab with my eggs, and they weren't my kids because they look nothing like me at all. Now that they're older though, they obviously has my eyes.

I'm curious, why it does bother some people though. Not in a judging way, I just don't understand it. Wouldn't you want your babies to look like your husband?

I was beyond annoyed the first few weeks when everyone and their mother told me he looked like DH. I didn't mind that he looked like him but it would have been nice if they could have thrown me some sort of a bone and told me he had my hair color or SOMETHING. After all I baked the little man for nine months! Give me some credit! Good news is about two and a half months in he started to look more and more like me and now I get to hear that he has my eyes and nose all of the time. Makes me so happy

Maybe it will change once I actually have the baby, but I personally am hoping for a clone of my husband. He was so so cute as a baby, and i really just can't wait to see how our genes end up mixing- i think it's going to turn out well no matter what, but I like looking at DH and won't mind if it's mostly his features our LO inherits =)

I remember it really upsetting both my sister in law and one of my best friends when peoples main comments were how much their kids look like their dads, so it's definitely not uncommon.

My mil does this all of the time! It annoys me so much - especially because she's the only one who says he looks like dh. I eventually started saying "he looks like C".
Ella is a nice mix of you and dh. Some qualities stick out more and that's what people see. :)

Eta: what annoys me is that people have to say who the baby looks like, not that he looks like me or dh.

It doesn't bother me, but I really don't think she looks like either of us so I kind of figure they're just making conversation. Although her hair is just like mine was when I was a baby, but longer/wilder! But there's no way most people would know that.

Most people say she looks like me, so I like it when people say she looks like DH. But really, I think people are drawn to the familiar. So if they know me, they think LO looks like me. My mom says that P looks exactly like me as a baby. I knew my DH's niece as a baby and think that P looks a lot like her. We're probably both right.

It used to bother me a little but it's true... I think it actually bothers my mom more. She never fails to mention that DS has daddy's coloring but my nose and eyes, etc. No one has ever denied that he has my nose...DH was not so fortunate in the genetic lottery for that.
Most of the time I will.say he's daddy's clone before anyone says anything. I think that is better than hearing he looks nothing like me all the time. I'm so curious to see what our second little guy is going to look like!

When DD was a newborn, everyone thought she was the spitting image of DH (and looking back honestly, she was). But, I gained 70lbs, had a 25 hour labor and given everything for this little baby and I wanted her to look like me! It used to make me so sad/mad. Now, she looks very much more like me but I love seeing his face in her too. They have the same expressions and it cracks me up. But yeah, I get it mama.

And I feel like my family wants her to look like me, so it bothers me they don't see it at all! She does look a lot like him, but I see a little of myself in her, and apparently no one else does!

DD1 is my carbon copy and EVERYONE commented on how much she looked like me, even DH's parents were hard pressed to find anything that resembled DH. I didn't mind of course, but I think DH got a bit annoyed at times when people would make comments asking if he contributed anything to DD. Rightfully so, that would irritate me as well. Now that she's 20 months old, she's still all me, but DH is over it, especially as our second DD now looks just like him! I like that DD2 looks just like him, he's gorgeous and I love the idea of a LO looking like him!

It never really bothered me. When he was born he was an exact clone of D. *Everyone* commented on it. Once or twice it annoyed me a little bit, only because I was looking for some part of me in him, but I'm sure that had to do more with immediate pp hormones than anything.

My MIL once said "If I hadn't watched him come out of you I would wonder if he was yours" but she was (mostly) joking. As E's gotten older he's gotten more of my features and I think he's a great mix of us now. But even if he wasn't I wouldn't be annoyed. D's a handsome dude, E would be lucky to look like him :)

My 3 brothers and I all look like my dad. My mom always jokes that she just dropped us off. We think it's funny when people say that she and I look alike.

Most people say that DS is the perfect blend of DH and me. However it leans towards me since he has my eyes and those are more prominent.

I also read something about how babies generally look like the father when they are first born so that the father will know that it is there baby. There's a lot more to that but I won't bore you.

I don't care. He is his son! And my husband is beautiful.
But, people rarely say it because he is just so obviously more me, so we actually get the "he's all you, mama" VERY frequently. I make sure to remind DH that LO does have a lot of him too, it is just way more subtle.
