Walking for a couple weeks, elliptical and push ups and such at home at week 4, barre classes at week 6, crossfit at week 11.

I felt like a lump and had awful crazy sore hips and legs when I sat for too long. Thankfully that pp symptom went away with exercise! I also couldn't sit up without help so I was anxious to gain some basic strength back in my midsection

I think it was 7 weeks. I felt fine earlier but I had a c-section so I wasn't going to risk it. I worked out until just a few days before I went into the hospital but it was still tough to get back, but that could have to do with my stomach muscles after the surgery.

Oh dear god, no, I did not wait 6 weeks for light exercise. We got home from the nicu on day 5 of life, and went to the dog park the next morning with her in a sling. I did more as my energy levels and bleeding allowed for. I would have gone nuts sitting on a couch for 6 weeks.

I waited until 6 weeks, but I started bleeding pretty heavily, so I had to stop and wait until 8 weeks, and then I was allowed only light walking until I could walk without any spotting/ bleeding. I hemorrhaged during delivery, so my OB was concerned with continued blood loss.

I started going on long walks as soon as I got home from the hospital. I had a relatively uncomplicated birth but did have a tear so I don't know that it was a great idea. I got tired pretty quickly since I was already exhausted anyways and I was still sore so walking didn't really help matters. At 3 weeks pp I started jogging a bit along with walking. I was jogging really slowly but it was nice to start moving again.

@swedishfish: I go around dusk - our neighborhood has a little walking trail that's lit, so if it gets a little dark while we're still out its fine. I would go in the early morning when it's cooler but I still feel like a zombie due to C's late night benders he's been pulling lately :)

My Ob told me, whatever I was doing during my 3rd trimester, I could still do immediately postpartum. Then, she took that back when I got my episiotomy and changed it to "wait 2 weeks".
I was only lightly jogging and walking while pregnant though.
I wish I had done more, so that I could have done more during my 6w PP.

I waited until 6 weeks. I started with a pilates class to try and strengthen my pelvic floor and core muscles first. It was so difficult! But it got easier after a few classes. I then started doing cardio about a week later but modified it a lot until I could keep up with the classes. By six months pp I had lost all the baby weight!

I go on a mile or mile and a half long walk with my LO in the stroller or Ergo every night. They are slow and easy though. I plan on adding other things in depending on my doctor's opinion at my 6 week pp checkup. I'd love to start Zumba again if she clears me for it!

Ah, good question! I was just wondering this myself. Could you maybe take the baby on a short walk each day? I plan on doing that once I feel a little better.

I was out walking within 2 weeks and doing my workout videos within 4. Judging by other posts I've seen I recovered a lot faster than most though.

I am only 15 days PP, but it is killing me not being able to exercise at all. When did you start working out again? Did you wait until 6 weeks or did you start doing light exercise earlier than that?

I feel like a giant lump on the couch right now. It is driving me bonkers! I need to work off some of this new-mommy stress!
