My comment will also be no help because I'm curious about the same thing. E is 12.5 months, only uses it for sleep or during extremely fussy other times.

I'm not planning on getting rid of it before baby #2 arrives next month because I know that if she takes one he'll want hers. But I'm concerned that it'll never be easy to wean him off of it because it won't seem fair if baby sister has one. It's something I plan to talk to the ped about next week!

I have no idea if there's a best time, but I wanted to bump this for you because I'm curious as well.

Like A, E needs it to sleep, and when he teethes we let him have it during the day (because I'd rather he chew on it than my hand/any random thing he can get his mouth on). We asked his pediatrician about it at his 12 month appointment and she said it was fine until 2 years, especially since (for the most part) we only give it to him during sleep.

But that doesn't really tell you when the easiest time would be, so this comment is really no help :)

I'm trying to decide when I should get rid of LO's pacifiers. We try and limit them to sleep only but when she's teething we cave and let her have it during the day. She is almost 14 months. I don't want her to have it past 2 years, but is there an age where it's easier to get rid of it? Any tips on making this a smooth transition? She seems to rely on it to sleep.
