I offer the same amount of milk to him (he has 2 small solids meals - rice cereal and then either a fruit or veggie). But I have noticed that since I bottle feed him he does take like 3-4 ounces less over a 24 hour period these days. I'm not sure if it's related to solid intake, but I'm starting to think so -- their bellies are only so big!

When I started solids with DD we don't eliminate any nursing sessions or bottles - she was just practicing eating. Now at 8.5 months she seems to nurse a bit less with 3 solids meals but sill the same amount of sessions. I'm still nursing DD about 39 minutes before her meals and will probably make the switch after checking with her ped at 9 month visit.

No, it's not replacing a feeding. We offer solids about 30 min-1 hour before she normally nurses, then nurses after. She eats maybe 3 real bites before she's just frustrated.

@mrsjazz: I thought my LO would love food more too! What's the deal?!

We didn't replace any bottles either. We would always give DS a bottle and then feed solids afterward.

No, her solids aren't replacing a bottle/nursing session. Our pediatrician said her solids now are just to get her used to eating and are really just for learning so we should keep the same amount of nursing/bottle sessions. We just started solids last week and LO is eating about .5 an ounce in a sitting. I thought she would love food more! Although I think she might be more interested in baby led weaning.
