We had hoped to be able to wrap an U/S picture, but we weren't able to get in until the week after and I didn't want to miss the chance to tell everyone together and in person. </p> <p>We told my dad and stepmom after our U/S, via phone, as well as the rest of my siblings, and announced on FB after my NT scan at 13 weeks. </p> <p>As for showing, I didn't start to show until 18-19 weeks and it wasn't clear it was a baby bump until 21. Make it clear that this is your family's news. It's awesome that they're excited, but announcing your first pregnancy before you do is rude and tactless. We didn't announce to the parents until after the 12-13 week ultrasound around my birthday. I remember this because we told a friend who we took out to dinner because her boyfriend was away.</p> <p>When we found out the gender, we announced on FB at 21 weeks. Unfortunately, my MIL announced my pregnancy before I did. DH insisted we wait until second trimester. I didn't show until late with either but then I'm plus sized/fluffy in the middle so they were well hidden. We lost our first one at 20<br /> Weeks and I was showing with that one by 16 weeks. We announced on Facebook at 12 weeks (and after 3 ultraounds). </p> <p> I didn't start showing until around 14 weeks, and it wasn't noticable unless I was buck naked,, and even then it was only to me. We told our close friends after my 8 week ultrasound when our doc told us everything looked great and we had less than 10% chance of miscarriage. After my 12 week appointment when everything still looked good we decided to go totally public (work and facebook) when I hit 13 weeks/2nd tri. </p> <p>Regardless of when though, do it in person if you can! I told my mom really early because I suck at keeping secrets and the 3 days it took me to see her in person after I found out were the LONGEST DAYS EVER but she was soooo glad I told her in person so she could actually see and hug me immediately. </p> <p>I'm now 14.5 weeks and not showing AT ALL. It's weird. Not necessarily friends, but you can if you're comfortable. Maybe Thanksgiving?
