I never announced to work. I told my boss because of the doctors appointments after my 1st trimester. I honestly did not really feel the need to announce it. People figured it out when they say my stomach getting larger. LOL

I didn't announce until around 18 weeks because we were in the midst of an annual review and raise process and I didn't want to feel like it was affected. I think you'll be fine - announce when you are comfortable!

I would not announce to work before telling our families. I think 16+ weeks is plenty fine.

With my first, it wasn't general knowledge till closer to 20 weeks, though I did tell a couple of people (including my supervisor) early in the first trimester because I was really sick and had a lot of OB appointments and was running out of the room to throw up during meetings and such. I wanted them to know why. But if you work at home and your pregnancy isn't affecting your work, I think 18 weeks or even later is appropriate, unless your position is such that they'd need to start planning ASAP for when you'll be out.

It depends on your relationship with them but 16 weeks is not "too late" for announcing at work. i didnt tell my manager til I was 18 weeks and I know a few others who announced around that time

I work from home and only see my co-workers once every few months. I will be seeing them tomorrow, but since I am just 12 weeks and have my ultrasound on Thursday, I would feel most comfortable not announcing just yet.

My other option is to announce during a bi-weekly Skype call with my department (7 people including myself) either at 14 weeks (the day before we tell our families in person) or at 16 weeks. Of course, I would announce to my manager separately and before announcing to everyone else.

My question is, if I wait until 16 weeks is that "too late"? Will they wonder why I waited so long? I'll be the first female to announce even though my manager's wife and another co-worker's wife have both had babies.
