We were told if it lasts longer than 48 hours or is over 102 after administering tylenol/advil.

102 is when I call - the ped has told me under 102 doesn't usually worry her. Or I call by the third day if nothing has changed.

I take my son to the office when he has a fever of more than 102 degrees or if lower, it is more than 2 days in duration and Advil hasn't lowered it.

Our practice has an urgent care arm that sees you as walkins, if the regular ped is out/booked up.

I call if it's been more than 48 hours, hits 102-103, it's not responding to meds, or she's unusually lethargic. She's usually bouncing off the walls even when she has a high fever.

I would think the ac being out, depending on how hot it got, could cause him to he less active! P always gets really warm at night & from what I've heard fevers in general tend to run higher at night. I might take his temp again if he still feels warm to the touch. Otherwise, I also refer back to this site for when the lo's have fevers! It makes me feel better!

I don't know how old he is, but over 100.4 requires attention in under 3 months of age.

I tend to call after 48 hours, or if the fever gets above 102, or if there are any other related symptoms or weird things going on.

DH always tells me this and it's what I follow. If you're concerned and it would make you feel better to call, then call. I always say that I'd rather call or take her in and it be nothing than to be concerned but assume I'm overreacting and miss something.

I hope he feels better!

When would you call?

E nearly STTN last night, which in and of itself is unusual (one wake-up at 6:30, I nursed for half an hour). He was a bit warm to the touch then, but our AC is still out (it's not super hot in his room, but we still put him to bed in just a diaper last night), and it also seemed like he was warmest where he had been pressing into the mattress in his sleep.

He woke up again around 9:45, nursed again, but was very lethargic and just wanted to cuddle. He was still a bit warm to the touch so I took his temperature--101.3. Not very high, and I gave him a little bit of Tylenol but combined with the lethargy I'm wondering if I should call his pedi.

He'd only been up maybe 15 minutes when he fell asleep on my shoulder so I put him back down.

I think I'm going to wait and see how he's acting/take his temp again when he wakes up, but when would you call the pedi?
