@TurtleDoves: I have the Medela Freestyle, too. I pump for 15-20 minutes 2-3x a day at work. I usually have my second letdown after 10 minutes, but I think this varies based on how long you pump, what level you pump at.

@TurtleDoves: Not everyone has a second let down. I dont. I only pump 7-10 mins and thats enough for me. Both my doctor and pediatrician gave me the advice not to pump for too long and its worked for me

35min sounds long to me too. I just started using a Medela PISA (had a different pump the first time) and am still trying to figure it out. Will have to try hitting the letdown button again and see if I can get a second let-down. I pump at the lowest setting because anything more hurts too much.

@yellowbird: I get 6oz -8oz total every 4.5h. And 1.5pz is good enough for me for a 2nd letdown!
@mrs. wagon: ooh...you press the letdown button again..makes sense! I'll try it

How much milk are you getting with 35 minutes of pumping? Seems really long to me, but my milk stops completely around the 20 minute mark. I see second letdown around 12-13 minutes. After about 10 minutes my milk slows down, so I hit the letdown button. My second let down only gives me around 1-1.5 more ounces per side.

I would pump for 30 min and the second let down would come at around 22 min... I used a pump in style and I was not nearly at the max but definitely not the lowest either..

I use a Medela Pump In Style Advanced and I pump at pretty much the lowest possible setting. It's very powerful! And this coming from a mom who has nursed two babies with VERY strong sucks. I do not know who uses the PISA at full strength... it would just rip my nipples right off.

After my milk stops flowing (at about 10-15 mins) I put it back on the let-down mode and either continue breast compressions or start shaking the flanges on my breasts. Usually within a minute or two my second letdown happens. I've been exclusively pumping for about 2 months now and now my second letdown doesn't give much milk at all. I'm usually done pumping at 20 mins.

I pump for 35mins...
Usually my breasts have stopped milking after about 28mins....but I keep going in hopes for the alleged "2nd letdown". But no such luck yet..
When does your 2nd let-down happen? What power level do you pump on?

ETA: I have the Medela Freestyle (it's a double-eletric for anyone who doesn't know) and it is pretty good at emptying the breast.
