I found it really tough to fit in pumping time during the day before she started sleeping longer stretches. I would just pump whenever she would take a nap.

Eventually when she started sleeping at night, I'd pump right before I'd go to bed.

Right after the morning feed and just before bed (pumping now actually). I found that pumping regularly at those two times made those pumping sessions more productive, to the point where I can't really skip the before bed one or I get too full overnight!

I always get my major pump session in before bed (around midnight or so). At that point I haven't fed LO for 4-5 hours, so I can usually pump 8+ oz, which makes up for anything she ate during the day (if I wasn't home for a while) and gives me some extra to store.

I ended up doing a morning, afternoon, and midnight (just before bed) pumping session. Initially I did after every feeding, but that was too hard, so I went with 3 big ones a day to maintain sanity and preserve sleep!

Don't worry about how much you're getting. Every little bit counts. My baby is a hand held baby so it was really hard finding time to pump. I would try to pump one side right after she fell asleep. I would save the bottles in the fridge then combine them later. I also got good at pumping one side while she nursed from the other.

For the first 7-8 months at least, LO only ate in one side in the mornings, and I would pump the other. I also pumped after she went to bed.

I started out by pumping after his first nursing session of the day. Then I eventually added in a second session later in the day (it varied). I quickly built up a decent freezer stash.

Both good ideas, thanks! Today she drank a 3 oz bottle and I pumped 2 oz, so that got me worried, but I know I'm just getting used to the pump still, ive only been using it for about a week.

LO has been sleeping through the night (11pm-7 or 8am) for a week or so. so I've been getting up around 5:30 to pump. Before that, if LO slept through a feeding I would pump to make up for it.

Right after he nursed, first thing in the morning. Once I had enough for a full feeding, I would pump while he ate that and usually pump more than he ate. :)

LO is EBF and we are trying to build up a freezer stash. Any tips on when to pump?

So far I've just been squeezing a session or two a day in whenever possible, not on any regular schedule. Is that not recommended? Middle of the night sessions aren't great because I need some sleep, and she nurses a ton during the day, not on any schedule, so I haven't been able to pick a regular time. LO is four weeks.
