She specifically asked so she could be part of the “tying school club at school.”</p> <p>Apparently if your in the “club” you’re in charge of tying the shoes of everyone that doesn’t know how. But DS is in third grade and still struggles. It takes him like 10 minutes to tie or untie. All his shoes have been velcro and his school has encouraged velcro! We were planning on teaching him with his soccer shoes but were always running late and kept forgetting. His tennis shoes are tie so I have to tie them for him every morning and double knot so they last the whole day.<br /> I'm thinking once it snows and he has to wear snow boots /put shoes on at school this will become more of an issue too. We've tried to teach her a few times but it hasn't clicked yet. Our elementary school actually requested that all kindergartners stay in velcro shoes this year because teachers won't help them tie their laces. (Obviously, their aren't requiring it or making it a big issue, but we were happy to cooperate.)
