my insurance new b/c I had to enroll in their healthy pregnancy program, which was really just a nurse calling me every month or so to check in. but then within 30 days of birth I had to submit paperwork to add them to the policy.

I feel like my friend had to tell her insurance company BEFORE her baby was born, but I'd have to double-check with her on that. I remember her complaining that her first couple well check-ups weren't covered and she had all these issues with the insurance company because she didn't tell them in time. I'm not sure if she had a 30-day window or what though.

Us, from the moment the baby was born, we had to advise our insurance company.

That's definitely true, @Mr. Bee! When I was enrolling us, I noticed the increase from employee + spouse to family! It was at least $5K I want to say! Kids are pricey!

Do you remember with Charlie, when you told them? Did you do it before he was born? Or wait until after?

I think we had 30 days after our kids' birth to tell our health insurance about them, so that they could be added to our insurance plan?

We were already on a family plan together, so there wasn't much of an extra cost (if there was one at all). I guess they charge all couples a lot to be on a family plan, b/c they figure we're all going to pop out kids or something.

I haven't even started TTCing yet, but my husband and I recently had to go through our benefits for next year and enroll in insurances, and it got me to thinking... when do you have to tell your insurance company about your new addition to ensure that they are covered?
