Did you not get a bleed after you stopped taking your pill? You will get one "fake/forced" bleed before your cycle starts to regulate itself. This should be anywhere from 3-7 days after you stop taking the pill.

I would test if you haven't gotten your period after 30 days!

If you don't want to proactively TRY (i.e. track ovulation and whatnot) I would just wait around 30 days from the start of your last period and test. Then test once a week or so after that. Your cycles could be wonky after coming off BC and that would be often enough that you could feel pretty confident going about life as normal (i.e. drinking, etc) without worrying about putting a potential baby at risk.

@As Time Goes By: I agree with @CatchAFallingStar...unless you REALLY just want to see what happens.

If you haven't read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, I think most people would highly suggest it!

I learned a lot by charting my cycles when I quit BCP

@As Time Goes By: You should probably start by tracking your ovulation so you know you're timing things right. There's only a few days per month that you can get pregnant. I doubt you'd become pregnant so soon after stopping the pill, but, wait at least 14 days after ovulation to test. Best wishes! :)

Thanks everyone! I guess I'm wanting to make sure I'm not testing too early if I tested mid-April? Which is when I would have expected my "period" if I stayed on the pill the whole cycle.

I'm not really expecting much this cycle and I'm approaching testing as determining if my cycle isn't reestablishing after being on the pill for so many years.

@As Time Goes By: I would test around the time when you expect your period to arrive.

Well it sometime takes women's cycles quite a while to regulate and get back to normal after being on the pill, especially if they've been on them for quite a while.

TBH, I really wouldn't hold on to much hope for this cycle. I mean, it's plausible, but I don't think I would be buying tests anytime soon.

My DH and I decided earlier this week to start trying (really stop preventing at this point) and I ended up not taking my pills mid cycle. The last pill I took was Monday AM (9th pill of this pack).

I don't expect to be pregnant right away, but I would like to keep positive this early in the process., so if I end up needing to test this cycle.... When should I?
