My doctor said the exact same thing as @chuckles but I actually tried right away after my D&C (both the cycle of the D&C and the one following that first period). I did end up pregnant that first cycle after my first period following my D&C, which resulted in a successful pregnancy.

I'm really sorry for your loss  like some pp's, I'd always heard (and was told myself) to wait a cycle after a D&C for the lining to heal and thicken up. After mine, I waited and then had the weirdest period on earth--I honestly don't think I even ovulated that month (and I'm super regular). I cannot tell you how incredible my urgency was that I wanted to be pregnant NOW, but I'm glad we didn't try, I think I would have gone crazy banging my head against the wall trying to figure out ovulation and then would have been disappointed all over again to not be pregnant. All that said, if you want to and your doctor said go for it, then it really couldn't hurt.

I think when you and your DH are emotionally ready to try again is the best time. I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks, a d&c, an emergency d&c 2 days after, and my ob said we could try whenever we felt ready, whether that was immediately or in a few months. My period took an obscenely long time to come back, and by 8 weeks after my d&c, we felt ready to try again. I ended up getting pregnant before my period returned.

It's a difficult time - so sorry you are going through this.
Wishing you all the best and that you'll have your rainbow baby soon!

Agree do what feels right to you. We tried again right away after my d&c (I was 11w at the time of the procedure and ovulated about 4 weeks later), but I also knew I might have a long wait for another bfp. My ob said we could try as soon as we felt like it and she felt people are only asked to wait to make dating easier - different obs definitely differ on this.

Further back in my history I had two early losses a couple months apart (no d&c) and got my sticky bfp right after the second loss. I think a good thing to remember is that most loss on the early side is a genetic issue - not something you could have prevented. Sometimes though, a month off may just help you be in a better place.

I would try when you feel ready. If that's now, then try immediately (especially because you never know how long it will take to conceive).

We were forced to take a break from TTC for other reasons but I felt ready to try again a couple months after my D&C.

I'm sorry for your loss

I'm so sorry for your loss. I felt the exact same way when I had my D&C - I wanted so badly to be pregnant right away. My doctor told me to wait a cycle. I knew that wasn't always the advice, but we ultimately decided to follow it. FWIW, I got pregnant with my rainbow baby when we tried that next cycle (second one after D&C).

I'm sorry for your loss. I have seen mixed things about waiting a cycle versus not waiting. I had a D&C this summer, and my doctor told me to wait a cycle. She said that currently she recommends that because the uterine lining needs time to heal, but she also felt like in the future the recommendation could change. I felt like I was weighing the possibility of missing my one good egg versus risking another miscarriage. We chose to wait a cycle because I didn't want to have another miscarriage and always wonder if it was because I didn't wait.

I miscarried at 6.5 weeks with an oblited ovum and had to have a D&C a few days later. This is my first loss and I never realized how much I wanted to be a mom until that wasn’t an option for me. I had my follow up 2 weeks after my surgery and my doctor said I could either wait a cycle to TTC but there would be no increased risk if I got pregnant again without a cycle. I’m so confused about whether to wait or just try. My husband and I got pregnant on our first try after I had my IUD removed (which was in for 5 years) so I’m not sure what my cycles were like to start with. You hear of success stories and also others who experienced 2 MC in a row for not waiting. What should I do? I want to be pregnant again but I’m not sure how I would handle having another MC or if I would blame myself for not waiting? Any advice???
