@Lozza: I've been the same way on maternity leave. I've left him with the grandmas a bunch to run errands and my husband and I have been to a couple of movies, as well. My mom and MIL pretty much push us out the door on weekends so they can have them all to themselves. We go to breakfast every Sunday while my mom watches him. I feel like I like him so much better when I can get away from him every once and a while.

I went out to a movie when he was like 3 weeks old. And there were plenty of other times during maternity leave when I'd go out on an errand for a couple hours and leave him with DH or my mom or my sister. I went back to work at 9 weeks, so left him plenty then! He had his first overnight without us when he was a year old- left him with my parents and my younger sister, and a great time was had by all (DH and I went to a wedding out of town). I miss him if I've been at work all day and he goes to bed before I get home, but when I was on maternity leave I LIVED for those couple hours of freedom. Didn't miss him at all :)

At 7 weeks old. I had an event I didn't want to miss and had a good friend come over to watch him. She was super sweet and sent a picture of him smiling (he had just started to smile in response), made me feel so much better even though I still missed him terribly.
We were gone maybe 3 hours.

At 1 month I had to leave her for about 7 hours for my sisters bachelorette party. Then when she was 9 months I left her all day to be with dh when he had surgery.

At 3 weeks, my husband and I saw the broadway version of Lion King in Orlando, which is an hour away. So all together with travel, it was a good 6 hour trip.

This week (7 weeks)I went to see Bon Iver in Orlandp, so another 6 hour trip. I'm ready for him to stay overnight at grandma's, though! I need some sleep.

DS had his first sleep over at grandmas at 1 week old, DD at 6 wks so I could catch up on sleep. I waited longer with DD since I am ebf'ing & held off till after week 4 to start pumping. I left her with DH a handful of times between feedings to run errands before her overnight stay though. I very much do appreciate the "breathe time" and sleep time. lol

I have only left him (with DH) for about 20 minutes a week or so ago to run to the grocery store (he is 6 weeks old). I am considering doing a cut/colour in the next couple weeks, and I will leave him with DH, I am just not sure how I will handle that though, I am such a wimp.

I left her for several hours so I could get a massage and pedicure when she was 8 weeks old. I missed her, but it also felt so nice to be out of the house for some me time!

I think we left LO for the first time when she was 11 months old? or 10 months old. We left her for 3 hours after she went down for the night.

We had to leave Lala for 12 hrs when her sister was being born. It was awful... though I can leave her with her dad for that long without a problem.

My LO is 3.5 weeks old and I left her for 6 hours today to get a haircut and hair color. I missed her so much. A lot of people were shocked I left her so early! When did you leave your newborn for the first time?
