LO is 8 months old and I've still never left her overnight with anyone, and I don't intend to for awhile. I just know it'll be awhile before I feel comfortable with that. Our parents have kind of hinted at it a few times, and my mom thinks it's strange that I'm not jumping on the offer but I'm just not ready.

LO will be a year in a couple weeks and I've never left her overnight. Like other folks have said, having to pump sort of ruins it for me. Also, if I'm being honest, I'm just not ready to let her go for a whole night!

She was about 3 months old. It was not by choice though. DH and I caught a horrible stomach bug and we were so weak that we couldn't even pick her up, or feed her a bottle. My sister took her overnight. The next time after that was just recently (10 months) when we went on vacation. THAT was really hard, but it was nice to have some quality time w/ just me and DH.

Of course you are not crazy! My in-laws do something similar and keep telling me they never get to see DS (not true). DS is only 5 months but I'm not planning on leaving him overnight until he's at least a year old and when the time comes it'll probably not be with the grandparents.

I say, do what feels right for you and LO. If you have to get up early to make your event, so what? It wouldn't be the first time you lost some sleep I dare say

My son was about 6 months when he stayed at Grandmas. It wasn't necessarily because I wanted to be away from him. My mom watches him Tuesdays and I went to her house on a Monday and she asked if he could stay over so she wouldn't have to race to get to me on Tuesday morning (she lives an hour away). I said fine. We went out to dinner with friends that night and it was nice.

@Baby Boy Mom: yep! Pumping throughout the night instead of nursing is not a night off for me and there's no way I would enjoy it.
DS will be one the 17th and I haven't left him overnight. There's something coming up next year that I'll need to be away a night but he will be with DH then.

Toddler X is 13 months, and I haven't been away from him for more than 8 hours yet (and no overnights). But we nursed until 2 weeks ago when he weaned, and I had no desire to be away and have to pump. So now that he's weaned, I'm hoping to get an overnight away soon.

She was about 5 months. She stayed at my parents house while DH and I went to a concert for our anniversary. I actually would have been ok doing it earlier, but LO was really fussy and hard to put to sleep so I actually felt bad for whoever I was leaving her with. I'm of the opinion though that LO needs to learn that I'm not always gonna be there. I love her and miss her when she's gone, but I'm a better mama when I get some breaks and a night of sleep every once in a while!

First, it's totally normal to not feel comfortable leaving your LO overnight! I'm sorry you're getting pressure from the grandparents...that would irk me a little.

I left my LO overnight with my DH at 6.5 months. I was so hesitant about it and I even cried when he suggested it. After some thought I said yes, and I really enjoyed that baby-free time. I left my LO a second time at the end of October (8 months). We have yet to leave him overnight with the grandparents because frankly I don't trust them to follow his sleeping schedule, and they will probably feed him things like cookies and juice. :/

LO was 10 weeks for her first overnight with her grandparents. We had a wedding and would have been out really late, so it was easier for her to stay with them, than for us to worry about getting home at a specific time.

I missed her, but it was good for both of us. I want her to be comfortable with other people (especially family)!

I say to go with whatever feels right to you. I had no desire to leave LO before he turned a year old. A big part of it though was BF, and I find pumping a PITA so I rather not because that sort of ruins the "vacation" part of it for me.

LO was 12 weeks the first time she spent the night away from us and with her grandparents. I don't think you should feel pressure to leave your LO for the night before you are ready; but I also think it probably gets harder and harder with time to leave them for the first time.

My LO is just over 7 months and I'm also not in a hurry to leave her with her grandparents. She's away all day at daycare so I feel as though I barely get to spend time with her so I treasure our nights and weekends. My parents keep asking me to bring her but I'm not ready for that yet.

She also nurses at night and weekends so thats also part of it

Nope, your not crazy, I get it! However, my LO spent the night at my sisters at 10 weeks old because stupid me, before I had her I agreed to let her have her for our anniversary. I didn't think of how much I would miss her. My sister would have literally cried had I changed my mind so I sucked it up and tried to enjoy the time with my DH. I trust my sister 110% though. Asked for lots of pics, and updates. DD did just fine! Took long naps, ate well and slept most of the night (she never does that for me). However, if I was forced to leave her with say my husbands parents, that would never in a billion million years happen. Ever. Never. lol...so I think it all depends on who you are comfortable with. Do NOT feel pressure, do whats comfortable for you.

I totally understand how you feel. If you don't feel at all comfortable with it, you shouldn't feel pressured to do it. I think it would be a nice break for you though! It might make you feel refreshed. My DH and I took a short overnight trip together when my son was 6 months old. I was REALLY hesitant but my DH insisted. I kept talking about my son the whole plane ride there. But once I got there, I was fine and tried to enjoy my break. When I came back, I felt rejuvenated!

It's only one night and it might be fun! I say go for it! Your parents/his parents are the best people to take care of your LO. And it'll be good for your LO to spend some good quality time with his grandparents. :)

My LO is 7.5 months old, and I have been getting pressure for months to let my LO say the night at grandparents' houses so that my husband and I (or just me) can go out and do something. At this point, I have no urge to be away from LO that long, but they all act like I'm a crazy person because I won't let them take him. There is a color run coming up that I signed up for, but it's 2 hours from my house and I'll have to leave super early to get there on time. I had planned on my husband watching him that day, but now he has plans, so our families keep telling me to just let them keep him that night and I can just get a hotel room with the people I'm running with. So it looks like it might not work out at this point. I am just not comfortable enough for this yet. Am I crazy!
