The kids generally don't get screen time during the work week, but get to watch some shows in the mornings on the weekends. I was/am ok with educational apps during the week, but the only time we have is after bathtime/before bed and I find it keeps them up longer than usual, so I stopped. DD asked about it a few times but she likes reading stories so it's been fine! Actually, my girls (ages 3.5 yrs and 22 months) rarely have screen time. I turn the tv on for them maybe, and this is a big maybe, once a month or so, and even then, they only watch a few minutes of it before they move on to other things. The iPad they get sparingly (less than once a week) and then it's usually only to watch one or two songs on YouTube. Other than that, the only screen time is when we face time with family members overseas. I'm not anti screen time at all, kind of the opposite. But I've noticed an attitude change in lo when he gets a lot of tv, and I don't like it. We recently moved and didn't have internet at our new place for two weeks. He hardly got any screen time during that time because he usually watches Netflix or YouTube videos on my iPad, he couldn't without Internet. I all but lost my voice yesterday and it hurt to talk, so we swung by the library and picked up some documentaries. Most weeks we go Sunday-Friday without watching any movies, and we don't really watch TV shows (with the exception of documentaries that have run on TV, and Dancing with the Stars sometimes when I remember that there is a new episode! ;) ). We've been doing TV for poop in the potty for far far too long. Today was the day we broke that. My daughter sat me down and tried her best to reason with me. 'Mom, listen to me. I want to watch TV. Honestly, most days she has at least a little. I wanted to make it to the children's museum at a decent time, and she'd gone to bed late & slept in, so I got her up & ready and fed her breakfast in the car on the way. When we got home, she had lunch and went right down for her nap. Then after her nap, she played outside while I made dinner, after which we met DH to see a little children's version of The Nutcracker. Home to eat dinner, bath, bed! It was a great day and I can't believe no TV was involved! Of course, I got nothing done, haha... :)
