We told her dates we we're available for Christmas, she proceeded to book a place for 2 days before through 2 days after we told her and expected to to be there from the start to end. My husband was peeved so I took care of it after our Thanksgiving debacle. We're doing 3 days in a city 3 hours away from home with two labs, I'll be 26 weeks pregnant in a 1 bedroom 1 bath condo. After this, we won't be traveling for a holiday again. It wasn't planned. It just sorta happened. Actually I don't think we actually resolved anything .... But a few things became very apparent to me. On a almost 8 month break with my dad I will see him on Christmas. Had it out with my MIL. Since then she watched T overnight and did a bunch of things we are not happy with. I feel great. I'm over trying to please anyone (beyond what's reasonable/healthy) besides DD and DH. I cleared the air with my mom and we didn't talk for six months, but I did send my kids over for a visit (DH took them) and we are all getting together for the holidays, so maybe things will calm down. 2. Had a big blowout with my ILs over Thanksgiving.... they've since watched the kids overnight so I think all is ok but husband is going over there today to smooth over any remaining hurt. 3. I actually told off my dad's side around Easter! My dad and stepmom had this habit of arguing around the kids that I asked them to nix. That was actually the calmest conversation, it was over by the afternoon but I was a wreck going into it. It was the best example of calm assertive behavior that I employed this year for sure. Overall I must say my relationships have improved thanks to no more bubbling resentment. At least on my end.
