Our 911 system here doesn't have gps locator for cell phones. So teaching my 4yo how to dial 911 was pointless as she has a hard time pronouncing our street name (we live in the SW with many Spanish names). I work from home and had poor reception on my cell phone, so a land line was a must for conference calls. We used it for about 2 weeks, but got tons of telemarketing calls everyday, so we unplugged our phones and haven't used it in months. Cell coverage here is spotty, and our internet/cable plan was actually cheaper if we added phone as well. At our last house we had one because it was required by our internet provider. We live in a pretty rural area and there aren't many options available....
