He's almost 9 months and can't pull himself up completely from a complete lay down, but he'll try. He'll get himself into a pike position, but can't leverage it to fully sit up. If I give him my two forefingers to grasp onto, he can pull himself up to a sitting position and then into a standing position. I have a photo I snapped of Chloe the first time she sat up on her own. I had turned around, and when I looked at her again she was sitting and not laying on the floor LOL I was like "howwww did you get there?!" She still can't sit unassisted even but can crawl. She wasn't able to control her backward fall until about 7 months, like if she leaned back too much, she would just fall backwards.
