E didn't start using a "sassy" until he was 6 months old, and used it until a few months after his second birthday (but after a year he only used them for naps and night sleep). D took it away cold turkey (we had been talking about how sassies are for babies and he's not a baby anymore) but that was it. He gave it up with no problem.

My LO would reluctantly take one until about four or five months old and then they just became chew toys. She likes to play with them, but doesn't use them as a paci.

What?? really... so young? DD is 2 and still uses it to sleep and nap. I am in no rush to cut it out. I can't believe so many babe's cut it out so soon.

2.5 is when we did it cold turkey with DS1. It was traumatic. I hope this DS2 doesn't get as attached. He already isn't as attached at almost 8 weeks. He can actually sleep without it versus DS1 who slept with it every night and nap since 3 days old.

She really only used it for naps in the car or carrier until 5-6 months. She did not need it so I took them away. My MIL found a Wubbanib recently in her toy box and gave it to her- she was obsessed- I hid it immediately.

Around 5ish-6 months. She only used it for the initial soothing and falling asleep stage. I think entering daycare helped to move her along without it.

DS at 18 mths. We took it away cold turkey and it was fine. DD at 24 mths. We had to snip the top so it was "broken". Took her approx a week to get over it.

We went cold turkey about a month back. LO1 was a little over 2.5.

It was much easier than I anticipated. She's had a big year...new sister, big girl bed, potty training, and now no paci--she's handled it all like a champ.

eta: after she was a year, she couldn't have it outside of the crib anymore. If she was upset in public or the car or at home, we didn't deal with it by giving a paci, so maybe that made the weaning easier. I don't know.

Both girls still use one. DD1 is 2.5 and uses it only for sleep and DD2 is 10 months and uses it in the car, for sleep and usually right after dinner before bed because she's fussy. I definitely don't use it as much with DD2 as I did DD1. I plan on limiting it to only sleep for her when she turns one because I don't want another 2 year old walking around with it all day. We are still having a hard time keeping it only to sleep. She uses it to cope with everything. First time mom mistake

DS is going hard on 3 and still uses it for sleep. He doesn't seem quite as attached anymore though so I am really hoping it'll be ok to ditch it on his birthday. (We have a transatlantic flight coming up and he'll be allowed to use it for that (ear pressure) and once we're back home we'll really start weaning). DD is 13m and newly obsessed. She only used to use it for sleep but they tend to allow her to use it at daycare all the time and now she wants it all the time. :meh: She'll not have it unless sleeping, flying or driving for our vacation so I hope it'll be a little better then.
