Following. E is day-trained (at least at home--he's still not there at daycare), but he still wakes up wet most mornings. He *really wants* to wear underwear to bed, though. He fights getting a diaper on every night. I'm not totally sure of th ebest way to handle it...I'd love to put him in the underwear and let him try, but I'm pretty positie he'll wake up soaked...

Following... DS has been waking up dry most nights for a while, and I thought he's almost ready, but he totally back-slid and I don't know what to do. My gut feeling is that he's ready physically but finds the whole thing amusing. He sounds rather proud of himself when he announces he's wet :bummed:

I think I'll just ditch the diapers when I go on maternity leave, and let him deal with it. What's one more load of laundry?

DD day trained herself at 2.5 years, and about a week later was staying dry through the night so we stopped putting a diaper on her. She did all of it on her own, we never pressured her.

I don't know if you can actually night train, and other than waking the kid up at night to pee, I don't know how you would do it either. My son did it naturally about 3 months after he was day trained. He just started waking up dry and after more than a month of dry night diapers, we ditched them for good. But I was fully prepared to put him in diapers at night for years, if necessary.

Waking up to pee at night is a developmental thing, nothing to train there.

It kind of happened nauturally after day training. We didn't really train. He just woke up w the urge during naps and/or woke up dry. He's been trained for a few months now, he's 2.5, so I think he was ready for both day and night! We still keep him in a dipe overnight, just in case! Need to get a mattress cover and once were out of this last pack, he'll be done w them for good!

Ds1 isn't potty trained yet but he wakes up dry 95% of the time and goes about 10 minutes after he wakes up. I think physically he's ready to potty train but not mentally.

Lo just was potty trained about a month ago and he was dry for naps after about a week. Night time, he will stay dry 90%of the time but I will have him in a diaper until he goes like a month without waking up wet. I'm not at all concerned about it.

Sadie's been day trained since January, but I don't think she's anywhere close to being night trained. She pees while she's sleeping (it doesn't wake her up), so we can't really "train" her.

DD was mostly day trained by 2.5. She wasn't night trained until 3 years 3 months. She did nap train much earlier. I didn't want to deal with a mountain of laundry, so my rule was 7 consecutive days of dry diapers and she could wear underwear. She got really close at about 2 years and 9 months - but then we went on vacation and it was out the window.

Pretty much at the same time as he was daytime trained, which was right before he turned two. However, he was already holding over night (he was dry on mornings when I would wake him up) starting around 20 months or so (not every night though). That was one of the signs we used to decide to train him for good. I think we used pull ups overnight for the first two weeks or so. I should add that we don't give a cup of milk right before bed, but he had it at dinner about two hours before and just sips of water after that.

DD is 35 months and has been day and nap trained for over a year. Moved to pull ups a couple weeks ago for bed. Usually she is dry but occasionally she still wakes wet. Her pediatrician said it happens when their bodies are ready and that it cannot be forced.

Following.... Dd is day trained, she caught on quickly but I still put diapers on for naps and bed. Sometimes she wakes up dry but most of the time she's wet. She's only 20mos so I'm thinking she's not developmentally ready, which I'm fine with....just don't know when I should think about night training!

I think it just sort of comes naturally after they are day trained. T has been day trained for about 6 weeks and only in the last few weeks started waking dry and/or waking at night to go (he still wears a diaper or pull up at night). But he's 3 so I think maybe he's night training more quickly than if he had trained at 2 or 2.5.

LO is 2.5 and has wavered back and forth on her interest in the potty. I've been trying to slowly (very slowly) introduce the potty to her and her school has been doing the same. It has probably been a full year now that she's been exposed to the potty.

We haven't taken the plunge to start yet, but I hope it will go well.

I always seem to come across people saying their LO is potty trained, but only during the day. When do you potty train LO at night? Did you do both together or day-train before night-training?
