The first two appointments were to just get him used to the idea of going. We took her the first time at 2 but literally all they did was have her watch my cleaning, sit in the chair and let them count her teeth, and give her a toothbrush. She didn't get an actual cleaning until 2.5 and it is not an issue. My LO is 20 months so I spoke with my dentist about this recently, and he said that visits under the age of 3 or 4 are more focused on getting the kid comfortable with the idea of the dentist in order to build good habits. </p> <p>I'll probably try and take my kiddo at 2 since we have dental insurance, but I won't push it if he's uncomfortable and shy. He has become quite cooperative with brushing and despises medical appointments so I am going to wait until then!
