I was over pumping at 10 months, but I was so close to the year mark that I stuck with it. Nursing, I was kind of over it at 21 months but was blindsided when we quit (one day, she didn't want to nurse).

@SweetiePie: I feel the same. Both times I was over it in weeks and my mental health started to be affected. With Ds1 I pushed on through til 7 months despite all that - but with Ds2 I decided these kids needed a happy mum most of all and he has been ff since 5 weeks. Im in awe of those who manage to do it so long!

I only nursed for 9 weeks - and the whole time I was kind of over it. I only planned on doing it for my leave (14 weeks) because I have a 2 hour commute on the bus each way and wasn't into pumping at work. Having said that, when I stopped I regretted it so much and i STILL (he is 21 months) miss the hell out of nursing! I wish i could rewind time and tell myself to stick it through! At the time, i thought it was the most stressful thing, but in hindsight, we had no issues and he was a great nurser  next baby i will nurse forever and ever and ever!

We would still be breast feeding, but I got pregnant and somewhere between waking up, barfing, nursing and barfing again it had to stop. We nursed until just after 13 months.

I've never been at that point yet, although we had a very rough time of it with my first. I had to wean at 15 months with #1 to TTC and will have to do the same with DS. If we are successful with a third child, I am looking forward to carrying on until they are ready to stop. I'm a SAHM though and don't have to pump, which I think helps.

I had my moments here and there throughout our entire nursing relationship. We had some challenges in the early days (I gave myself until 6 weeks to try before giving up), then she got to be such a distracted, wiggly thing. She liked to beat on my chest, pinch my collarbone.....but I felt ready for the end once I got pregnant and things started to get sensitive (breasts and growing belly) and I was aware she had so many teeth! I took a picture of what ended up being our last time nursing and I'm so glad I did. Even with ups and downs, I'm glad we had that time together.

9 months. I had been pumping since 4 months. Ugh. The worst
Had an open sore on one nipple from skin shearing, mastitis, and we were traveling
I was ok with it, the last few times I nursed lo (I'd still Nurse her for comfort for her until 7 or 8 months), I could tell it was coming to a close. So we had some sweet final nursing moments.
Overall I miss it slightly. I loved the sweetness of it all, the hands resting lightly, her eyes fluttering. But the vast majority outside the sweet moments wasn't fun. I'm thankful I had the experience but I'm happy it's over.

With my first, I was over it around 10 months, but pushed forward to make it to one year...literally. His last nursing session was on his 1-year birthday!

With my second, I'm home now, so I've been thinking of whether I should go longer, just cause it's easy/no bottles and human milk is probably still easier for her to digest. We will see...about 5 months in so far.

I went through a period of being over it at 9-10 months when my little guy hit a biting phase but that seems to have passed and we're back in our groove again.

Im over it now at 10 months. I've had some clogs lately and it's making nursing more painful. DS is also getting SUPER squirmy and doing acrobatics during his nursing sessions. It's no longer a nice peaceful time with my baby. I really can not fathom nursing him much long then 1 years!

Eta- I'm a SAHM so I think that has a little bit to do with it.

I felt over it the first night I nursed on demand at home. This was after a few days of giving baby the bottle to make sure he was getting enough fluids. I was able to share night time feeding duty with DH. When I finally mustered enough confidence to breastfeed again I forgot how exhausting and painful it was to nurse all.the.time.

I felt over it around 3-4 months bc she was still feeding for what felt like a long time each session. But then she got more efficient and she started feeding less often and it became a lot easier. We weaned around 14 months - I could have gone longer bc it was only one nursing session at bedtime but LO didn't miss it and never asked for it so it seemed like good time to stop.

I had a really hard time with it from 4 - 7 months, I was back at work and things were ramping up, DD was drinking a TON at her sitter's and not eating solids, and it was really tough for me to keep up with pumping so BFing felt very stressful because I was always worried about supply. After we got over that hump, I really enjoyed it until we stopped (when I dried up b/c I was pregnant, and she was 14 months old).

Probably around 2 months but I persevered and we have a good rhythm now. I don't pump and she basically only takes the boob which is annoying (like she will hold out for me if I am gone...won't take formula from the bottle) so I'm starting to get nervous about her being able to take WCM when she turns one. Because I plan on quitting at one. It's been a good run but I'm ready to have my body back!

Um.... right now? LO is almost 13 mo, i pump weaned about 1 month ago and we've been nursing morning and night since then, but now he's biting me during our nighttime nursing session. I'm just over it. I gave him a bottle last night and will not offer tonight. I did nurse this morning but will probably wean from that session too.

with DD1, around 18 months. i didn't have to pump after 13 months, so that was freeing, so i lasted a while longer. i had a 4 day trip with friends planned at 18.5 months, so i used that to wean. it was pretty easy!

I was only over it once I had a chemical pregnancy and it hurt like whoooooa to nurse, plus I didn't think I had much milk left. Lo was 22 months by then and it was just time for me. She was a boob monster but really demanding about it in a way that wasn't comfortable for me anymore (like, wanting to nurse during pick up from daycare---girl, we gotta get home and let the teachers do their thing instead of waiting for you! haha). I had wanted her to self-wean since we had so many issues early on in nursing (supply was low, so supplemented from 2-12 months) and were finally in a great place, but it just hurt to much then and I was an emotional mess from the cp

Starting around 2.5, it felt different. I'd never had pain or other problems, but at that age I just didn't like the feeling any more. I night weaned him, but he still nurses one or two times a day at almost 3, just much shorter sessions. Sometimes he skips a day so I know he almost done.

I actually really like breastfeeding this time around, LO is almost 8 months... I hate pumping though! So annoying, and such a disruption in my work day, but my supply is pretty measly so I really need to keep it up.

With my first I'd say I was 'over it' at around 9 months... I'm about 99% sure I'm going to go longer with this baby than my first, mainly because this LO STILL occasionally refuses bottles and much prefers me. So I'm definitely stuck with it until at least 1, but I'm OK with it!

I also think a part of it is that I know this will be my last time breastfeeding as I'm not planning on any more kids.... and I can barely even remember nursing my older son so I value the time so much more.

I was feeling touched out by 8/9 months. Where I felt squirmy and just kind of got the ick about it. We made it to 12.5 months. She loves WCM and I reduced sessions. She started refusing. One day I did not offer and she did not ask. I'm with you I think it's amazing to make it further, my mom was really unhappy T weaned 'early' I'm glad I did not have to wean a demanding toddler.
