My LO plays in his baby proofed bedroom with the gate closed while I shower, so I imagine when the baby arrives I will just have it in a bouncer in the bathroom - that's what I did with DS when he was small. I have tried showering with him but he is scared of it!

@knittylady: lol - yes! this!

@littleredhairedgrl: Honestly, I found carving time out to shower with LO1 was always a struggle. Then, a few months before LO2 was born, LO1 decided she wanted me to shower with her. I guess it was some kind of sense of a change coming up or whatever. So I started showering with her every night. Sure, it got hard towards the end of the pregnancy, and I still never get alone time to bathe, but it kills two birds with one stone and I get a shower every single day now! Now with the new baby, I still shower with LO1 and she gets my undivided attention for at least 15-20 min.

@littleredhairedgrl: Well, he didn't love the shower at first at all. But I made him take quick ones with me and brought in a few toys - and only had them last 5 mins at first. So he got used to them slowly. (This was still when I was pregnant. The first time we tried he screamed at the top of his lungs and I tried to precariously hold onto him with my 38 week bump long enough to wash off and get out of there! Gah!) He started out sitting on the floor and I would point the spray away from him. It wasn't convenient by any means but it worked and at least I could quickly scrub and get my hair washed.

These days both kids sit on the floor and play with a few toys (small plastic cups, toothbrushes actually which they LOVE to scrub the shower with, and sometimes specific bath toys) and my showers can last as long as I want. :) They do well now. It's all a matter of training, easing them into it, reassurance, and they learn to deal with it.

I do look forward to the weekend though when I get to shower all by myself while DH watches the kids!!

@Mae: haha yeah there are weeks where I get only one or two in.. which is why I'm worried about what'll happen with lo2 arrives.

@catomd00: iPad would def help with A. there's no way I could get her to sit on my bed and watch a show like others have said. she is such a little maniac she'd be bouncing off the walls the second I walked away :silly:

@coopsmama: how does it work showering with C? A gets only baths and I feel like she wouldn't do well in the shower

When your oldest naps? Drag a bouncer in with baby if awake. I give my toddler the iPad while she sits on the floor of the bathroom while I shower sometimes and am already strategizing for when baby comes - I'll probably stick with that set up and bring baby in the RNP, too.

Right now I shower before DH leaves for work (6:30-ish), just before K wakes up. If I didn't have that choice, I'd probably bring the baby into the bathroom in his RnP, and let the toddler watch a show on my bed (with the bathroom door open).

I shower at night or if I want to look extra nice, I'll set an alarm for about 6:45, 15 min before DD1 is to wake up. Usually DD2 sleeps until about 8am, so I can get showered and DD1 can hang with me and DH while we both get dressed for the day. it's not as hard as I thought so far, but that's because of DD2's schedule! I'm sure it can all change once that changes.

I have a 2 year old and DS#2 is due in 2 weeks.

Right now I shower at night WITH DS, I just find it easier that way- but will probably have to stop doing that once baby #2 is here. DH works 60 hours a week including weekends, so I will probably just shower at night after DS goes to bed, even though I hate waiting until 9:00 at night. Or I will just continue showering with DS and put the baby in the bouncer- we'll see

Even though I shower everyday, I only wash my hair 2x a week so that makes things easier!

What is this 'shower' of which you speak? 😉

ETA: In truth it isn't that hard. I either let the toddler have a show or play in the bathroom and I shower when the baby is napping, or I bring baby in with me to chill in a bouncy chair or whatever while toddler plays elsewhere, or I shower after they go to bed. Totally manageable.

This sounds crazy but I make sure to have a "baby container" available in my bed/bathroom, kitchen/living, and basement (playroom) so I can easily park her for a fast shower or to get something for the toddler in the other areas!

I currently have one LO and am due in two weeks with #2. Right now I just bring LO 1 in the shower with me, so when #2 is here I plan on putting him in the bouncer on the bathroom floor and showering with #1 like I already do. I don't like to spend my breaks (nap!) on a shower.

I've showered with C every day since we had M. M would sit in her bouncer or sleep in her swing while we'd shower, but now that she's on one nap we all shower together. It is what it is. I'm just glad to have a fairly big shower so it works out. :)

I would put the baby in the rnp and let the toddler run around the bathroom. I just made sure it was reasonably baby proofed and I could see them through the shower door. I would talk to him the whole time. The baby often fell asleep from the sound of the water and heater. But this worked because my toddler was pretty good around the baby.

I let #1 watch a show on TV and put #2 in a bouncy seat in the bathroom. I find the earlier I do this, the more chance there is of it happening. If I haven't done it by 10am I have probably missed my chance.
