The theme was Freddy and nightmare in elm street. The cake was red and black with a picture of Freddy on it. The husband heard md talking about the things our kids were watching like word world and dinosaur train. He came over and said his son would never watch that crap he was going to watch all scary movies. He said his mom let him watch that stuff since he was a baby </p> <p>I tried so hard not to tell him he was a complete idiot. I was just in shock at the whole thing. I know everyone has a right to parent in their own way but I thought these guys were crazy. Even when they are allowed to watch them in the house, they will need to coordinate with me. If my kids like scary movies, fine. But I don't like them. I watched The Shining, It, Nightmare on Elm Street, Poltergeist, etc when I was in elementary school...like 8 or 9 years old. Then I stopped watching scary movies in high school and college and became a huge scaredy cat...I think my childhood movie watching caught up with me. Now i rarely watch scary movies and especially after getting pregnant and having LO I have no desire to watch a scary movie....I'm such a chicken. </p> <p>Someone I know told me they let their almost 4 year old watch scary movies...like poltergeist...that seems way too young! She says they explain it's not real, etc, but I still think it's not good for him. I don't think I will let LO watch scary movies until middle school...is that unrealistic?</p> <p>When do you think kids are ready to watch scary movies? </p>
