I know it is a bit out of the way for you but we really like that santa (great facial expressions) and we usually go on a Saturday morning either in early December (like 12/7) or right before Christmas (like 12/21). I cheat and don't actually pay for photos. You're allowed to visit Santa without purchasing a package and can take pictures outside the gated area.
