I was also going to suggest shower. its easier to rinse off and if he wants to play in the bath you can fill it up after he's done soaping up.

I would likely let my LO shower first alone rather than take a bath alone. Maybe by 5 in the shower?

Baths? I'd probably have to get my son showering first, I don't know when would feel okay leaving him alone in the tub. He's not yet 4.5, and wouldn't be able to rinse his hair, that's for sure!

My 5 year old can be unsupervised, but still wants us to wash her hair and body! My 3 year old sure can't!

DD was around 4.5 when I started leaving the bathroom. She showers and I leave the door open and pop in and out.

DS is 6 and I still wash his hair and body but I feel fine leaving him in there alone while I do other things around the house.

I am trying so hard to get him to shower instead but he says he wants to take baths forever....sigh

DD is 4 and I don't feel comfortable leaving her for more than a minute

I hope my LO can bathe or shower alone around 4-5...who knows if that will happen!

My son is 5, and I was thinking last night that he's ready to make the transition to taking baths by himself (no supervision). He just needs to get a little more adept at rinsing out the shampoo. His comfort level with rinsing has jumped dramatically since he started taking a swimming class a few months ago.

Gonna talk to him about it, and then try it out maybe next week! I'll leave the door open and pop in there regularly, and see how it goes!

When will your LO make the transition to baths without any supervision?
