My LO started sleeping on his stomach at 3.5 months when he began to roll over. He has been a stomach sleeper ever since, and he is 21 months old.

DS has been sleeping on his tummy since pretty much day one. He would not sleep on his back at all. He slept on us for weeks until I was sure of his head control. I still don't sleep well with him on his tummy but he still won't even nap on his back. My mother said I was the same way. I will just be worried sick until well forever. However now it is a little easier because DS is rolling over very well so I am not as worried. The pedi said to just keep an eye on him and continue to try to get him to sleep on his back.

Mine started tummy napping at 10 weeks. She wasn't rolling but had ridiculously good head control. Night sleeping on tummy started at 4.5 months when we swaddle weaned.

Mine started rolling reliably at 6 months, so we stopped swaddling his bottom half and let him sleep on his belly. He was slower than most kids his age with rolling over. He started sleeping through the night when we did this. It was amazing!

My understanding is that once the baby is able to roll over they can sleep on their tummies. I believe the danger in tummy sleeping comes when the baby is unable to get themselves out of a suffocating position. So, if you're daughter is able to roll front to back just fine then I would let her sleep on her tummy if that's how she's comfortable.

My daughter fell asleep on her tummy during floor time and I left her and we've caught her sleeping on her tummy at night some too. The only times I've rolled her back over were when she was really, really congested.

Once LO can roll over herself I'll let her belly sleep for sure. But I won't ever put her down that way. Our daycare has a rule where they always put babies down on their backs and if they roll to their tummy the teacher will flip them once. If they roll to the tummy again they can stay. You could follow that rule?

Our pedi said that tummy sleeping was fine once our LO could roll over. She sleeps much better on her tummy!

DD is 4 months old and out growing her rock n play. We bed share half the night and she sleeps the other half in her rnp. I've been trying to get her to nap in her mini crib with zero success. She will stay asleep and nap if she in on her tummy. I have the mini in the living room so she is never alone. I'm comfortable with her napping on her tummy but my question is when can I let her sleep at night on her tummy? When we cosleep we snuggle on our sides and she does fine with that but will not side sleep or back sleep in the mini. She can roll from belly to back and has really good arm strength. We are not swaddling either. So what do you mama's think? Is belly sleeping ever ok?
