That's excessive. I'm all for treats, but three donuts a day is a lot.

our 5 and 8 year old rarely ever see donuts.... my 18 month old wouldn't even know what a donut was. Donuts are treats, not every day things. WOW.

Jeez, that is a bit much. I have trouble eating three donuts lol! We do love donuts in this family, though, so on occasion (like once a month if that), I'll be letting LO have *one.*

Hell to the no. My daughter is allowed to have a bite of things like that for fun. But as a regular meal? No, never. Only for a very occasional treat. I love donuts, lets be clear. But they're a treat - not a meal.

Ugh. I am really going to try and avoid this type of thing with our LOs. My parents let us eat whatever we wanted growing up--sugar cereals, donuts, ice cream. They never taught us about good nutrition and eating habits. Luckily I had a fast metabolism and was never overweight, but it made it so much more difficult as I got older and my metabolism slowed down. I basically had to teach myself how to eat right, and it was hard to eat healthy after all those years of eating crap! I'm fine with a treat every once in awhile, but certainly not every day.

for a baby, no way. as kids we got 1 once in awhile for a special treat but we were school age.

that said, they arent filling and if im hungry i could easily eat 2-3, and im not overweight. once in awhile as an adult its not disgusting.

Um, that's gross! Two whole doughnuts every morning at 18 months?! Holy cow. I might consider giving him one as a very occasional special treat, but not until he's older, 4 or so. Anyway, I like doughnuts and all so I don't think they're really that satisfying of a treat, so I might opt for something like ice cream instead -- again, very occasionally, and when older. Ick!

@mediagirl: theres a dunkin donuts place near by the daycare, so she drops them off first then goes and gets the donuts then comes back with the donuts and gives it to the teachers to feed them or sometimes she will give it to them herself. She makes a big production of the whole thing thats how I noticed because my LO isnt even in that class

@mrsbells: She brings her kids to daycare, sits them down and feeds them donuts as breakfast in front of the other kids at daycare? That's weird to me. Why would you take them to daycare and then sit down and eat with them there every morning? Or does she drop them off and say, "here's their breakfast?"

My goal is to provide a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner for our lo because there are weight issues on my husband's side of the family. She may get a donut as a treat when she gets older (I don't know when, we're not there yet) but certainly not for breakfast every day....

I let DD have an apple cider donut when we went apple picking recently, but that's it. She is 2.5 yo.

Donuts for breakfast every morning ... sounds like what my parents gave me and I ended up being an overweight kid and have been struggling with my weight all my life. It is unfortunate to think that these kids might be going down that same path. It's not just the donuts. They are probably getting other fatty foods at home.

Donuts for breakfast every day sounds ridiculous for a child or an adult! We will definitely teach LO that donuts are a treat - not a meal! We plan on avoiding all sweets until her first birthday and will give her a cupcake or something then, but after that they will be offered very sparingly.

I don't really care what other people feed their LOs. I would probably let my LO have a donut hole or part of a donut occasionally after she turns 2. We don't get them very often...maybe 2-3 times a year and she can splurge at those times!

Hehe. I would consider giving WJ an iced donut as a treat, but not as breakfast and maybe half of one instead of a whole one (we've shared one before). On Sunday mornings it's become our ritual to pick up DD on the way to church (around 9am, about an hour after he's had breakfast) and he has 2-3 glazed munchkins as a snack. He loves them and I'm just happy he's snacking on something so he's quiet and not cranky in the car!

Two whole iced donuts every morning for breakfast? Trying not to judge...

I might let DS have a *single* donut hole for a really special occasion/treat, but definitely not every morning. It seems like that has real potential to set up bad eating habits.

There is this one lady at our daycare that always feeds her kids 2 or 3 donuts each from dunkin every day for breakfast. The other kids look on longingly as the younger one chomps down two whole iced donuts by herself and she is not even 18 months old yet. Is it just me or are these kids too young to be eating dunkin every morning.
I do have another friend who also lets her 18 month old and 3 year old eat iced donuts regularly as a treat. Isnt this too much sugar? I try not to care and not to judge but it really bothers me, I dont know why
