@Foodnerd81: LO#1 didn't sleep well so surely LO#2 will be the opposite, right? Isn't that how it works? :)
@MOMTOLITTLEB: Good point about having more time with LO#2 on maternity leave. I stupidly didn't think of that! @leighleigh: I am sure my employer would work with me if thing went really awry.
@Pumuckl: Thankfully they are paying for movers, and I am going to have them do EVERYTHING.
@Ms. RV: I suppose that is a possible, but we live in NYC and I bet I could work with the movers if something like that were to happen. Luckily if we had to reschedule the move, we could just stay in our old apt.
@BabyBoecksMom: Good point on having more time since they sleep more then. I forgot about that point.

Thanks everyone! Looks like there is consensus around March. I think that is what we'll do.

Get it over with - I doubt waiting until July would make it any easier (or harder) on your LO1. It's only a few months difference, and I'm sure being on maternity leave would make the whole move easier for you.

We actually moved when DD2 was 2 months old. It sucks to pack everything up, but it's nice to just get it over with. At 6 months, babies don't sleep as much and it'll be harder to pack/unpack.

Is weather a factor? I would hate to move in March in case there was a freak blizzard. Granted, July can bring lots of rain, but usually roads don't close for rain.

I'd get it over with, too. My was 2 months when we moved into the house we bought and it was fine.

@raintreebee: we just moved and my kids were 12 weeks and 24 months old, so very similar to your kids age. I think I would just want to get it over with BUT only if someone helps with the move. If you have to pack boxes yourself 8w PP is too soon.

I would get it over with too, as long as you had the option to switch to July in the event that you get induced early. It would be really tough to be stuck with a March date and then have the baby come early and then also be unable to move in July too. I assume that won't happen but its good to be safe!

I think it would be nice to get settled while you are on leave and before the summer. My son is 19 months now and we just moved and he is super clingy. He needs me all the time and has never been a Mommy's boy before. It's overwhelming but my thought is you'd have more time with him while you're on leave. Obviously you'll be busy with the move and new baby but those two factors will be there no matter when you move so I'd choose the timing for when you can comfort him more if it's a tough transition!

I would just want to get it over with too. Plus, maybe you will have one of those babies that just sleeps a lot for the first 3 months. One can hope, right??

Hi! We live in employer-provided housing and will be kicked out sometime in the next year because they are selling the building. Thankfully, they are relocating us in other apartments in our neighborhood, and we have two choices as to when we can move, March and July. In March, LO #2 will be two months old (although I might be induced a few weeks early) and LO #1 will be 26 months. In July, LO#2 will be six months old and LO#1 will be 30 months. Part of me wants to just get it over with in March. Life is already going to be crazy then, I will be on maternity leave, and we won't ruin our precious summer. Also, another crib couldn't fit in our current apartment without drastically redoing the rooms, and we would need a crib before the summer. The new apartment I could start fresh with their rooms. I worry, however, that this may be too much change for LO#1 with the baby, although he is pretty adaptable and likes new places. Also, will life be too crazy to move then?
